New York protest
OK i found this a few minutes ago and felt it was worth posting. This is the reasonsing for the protest.
Declaration of the Occupation of New York City | NYC General Assembly
They have taken our houses through an illegal foreclosure process, despite not having the original mortgage.
They might want to read the fine print. Most of those foreclosures are legit.
They have taken bailouts from taxpayers with impunity, and continue to give Executives exorbitant bonuses.
Well duh. Im sure they wouldn't turn the check away either.
They have perpetuated inequality and discrimination in the workplace based on age, the color of one’s skin, sex, gender identity and sexual orientation.
Say what?
They have poisoned the food supply through negligence, and undermined the farming system through monopolization.
Not to sure they know what a monopoly is.
They have profited off of the torture, confinement, and cruel treatment of countless animals, and actively hide these practices.
When and where? We talking about my dinner here? Sure hope they enjoyed all the mcdonalds and burker king on their march. Fuckin hypocrites.
They have continuously sought to strip employees of the right to negotiate for better pay and safer working conditions.
Well duh again. You mean they want to make as much profit as possible? Are we talking about wallstreet or the government here?
They have held students hostage with tens of thousands of dollars of debt on education, which is itself a human right.
Um no. Your right to an education was from k-12. Anything past that you signed a paper saying you would pay the bill. Thats not holding anyone hostage.
They have consistently outsourced labor and used that outsourcing as leverage to cut workers’ healthcare and pay.
Once again who exactly are we protesting the government or wallstreet?
They have influenced the courts to achieve the same rights as people, with none of the culpability or responsibility.
Tell that to mcdonalds and kfc when those retards burned themselves, sued, and got rich from it.
They have spent millions of dollars on legal teams that look for ways to get them out of contracts in regards to health insurance.
True but a very narrow view. They've spent millions getting out of any contract if it was better for them.
They have sold our privacy as a commodity.
True enough.
They have used the military and police force to prevent freedom of the press.
When was this? Lay off the dope it warps your mind.
They have deliberately declined to recall faulty products endangering lives in pursuit of profit.
Which company was this? I sure hope they aren't reffering to toyota.
They determine economic policy, despite the catastrophic failures their policies have produced and continue to produce.
Once again who are we protesting? If you want to protest the government that building is alittle farther south.
They have donated large sums of money to politicians, who are responsible for regulating them.
True enough.
They continue to block alternate forms of energy to keep us dependent on oil.
Which company was blocking alternative energy? There is a difference between not spending corprate money on something and blocking it.
They continue to block generic forms of medicine that could save people’s lives or provide relief in order to protect investments that have already turned a substantial profit.
What does their profit have to do with it?
They have purposely covered up oil spills, accidents, faulty bookkeeping, and inactive ingredients in pursuit of profit.
Yeah and i beat all of their taxes were sparkling clean.
They purposefully keep people misinformed and fearful through their control of the media.
HUH?
They have accepted private contracts to murder prisoners even when presented with serious doubts about their guilt.
Wow got some good shit up there dont they?
They have perpetuated colonialism at home and abroad. They have participated in the torture and murder of innocent civilians overseas.
LOL wow the acid is kicking hard up there.
They continue to create weapons of mass destruction in order to receive government contracts.
Do they really know what they are talking about at all? More importantly do they know what a WMD actually is?
I hate to say it but these people are retards. I thought they had an actual purpose. Instead they have a list of garbage. Mine as well protest because swiffers dont work as advertised. How about protesting some actual problems. A good start would be protesting in the right fucking city. Im not going to protest offshore fishing in Utah for good reason. The company would fucking see me to begin with. So why would they give a shit?

Re: New York protest
I haven't been keeping up with the protest, but I'm almost positive they haven't really revealed their intentions yet. It's more of a statement to get some attention, rather than trying to accomplish anything specifically.
Oh, I thought that's what we were talking about.
He seems like a nice guy from my experiences with him. He is a bit quiet though.[/]

Re: New York protest
I don't really have any moral connections with either side of the issue, but as a side note I think the use of pepper spray on a civilian was completely out of line.

Re: New York protest
This video shows some definite use of force without a situation warranting it. And yes, the video does start out while they are already on the ground, probably because that's when people start reaching for their cameras. However, if you watch the entire thing you can see some definite unlawful use of force (if you can put up with the annoying camera lady >_>)
It starts really heating up at around 3 minutes if you want to skip to then.Last edited by Knee of Justice; 10-01-11 at 11:58 PM.
