Thread: Just disgusting

I seriously doubt this is the entire story. On top of that why did she not just get up and walk out to the service desk? Why did she not just go off on the employee? Lets not forget she's a Marine and Marines are not known for their tolerance of other peoples bullshit. I would also like to know what her injuries were that she sustained. Last I knew female Marines are still not allowed on the front line. Some key points are missing from this story.

I'm sure she's a strong person being a Marine, but that shit will leave you vulnerable. Also, consider that when you're that vulnerable and you go into a place that's supposed to help you, you don't expect to be disrespected and verbally abused.

I agree with everything you said but the questions i gave give insite to what the actual conditions are that put her there. I dont doubt she might be suicidal. I also dont doubt ptsd because they do send female marines in country. Suicide rate for service members are 4 to 5 times higher then any other group. In the Corps the numbers have increased over the years. Not as much as the army but any increase is bad. Lord knows im not trying to say the VA is a well balanced place to get help for any condition. My point is just why is she suicidal? What injury ended her service? Why does she have ptsd?

Granted those items never have to be answered publically. Nor am i trying to imply she's faking it. In my many trips to the VA no one has ever asked my sexual orientation, my faith, or tried to preach to me. The two things they do consitantly is push to get me out of there and perscribe pills and i've been to several different VA hospitals. So whats missing from this story?

DG. I can only guess that the PTSD was from the leg injury. The PTSD is also likely the source of the suicidal thoughts. The army actual pays for really good treatment for PTSD when you're serving. The hospital I was at had several serving Army members. All were from PTSD. One because she got fucked up badly by an IED (she healed up fine but she was broken...she was pretty cool though when she was able to focus). The rest were unfortunately in their because of rape. The one thing I will note is that none in there blamed the government or the military. They were still happy that they had served and were looking forward to going back to serve. Of course, as I'm sure you have had to become aware...once you're discharged service sucks. That's why there's a need for non-profits to provide quality support to all of the troops we have coming back from the wars.

I can say this when it comes to an injury that has chronic pain the VA likes to give script for gabipentin (i think thats how it was spelled). The problem with that is it isnt a pain med. It was designed for depression but the docs were getting kick backs. The problem with it being used for pain is it can give suicidal thoughts to someone that would not normally have them.

They gave my an open ended script for it and 600 tabs to go home with when i first went to the VA. I took them for 2 days and shit canned the rest. In essence the VA isnt really trying to help anyone. Their primary goal is to keep lawsuits to a minimum. I have yet to find a doctor that gives a flying fuck about anyone in the VA system.

Not to shit on the rape victims your talking about but i can attest to the bs claims they put out. Most females i encountered in the service that screamed rape fit into 2 catagories. 1 regret syndrome after the alcohol wore off. 2 screamed rape or sexual harassment without a single word said to them. I had one try that shit with me and i not only wasnt talking to her but the conversation she over heard was not even sexual in nature. After enough people said she didnt know what she was talking about i was finally let off the hook.

In the end all it did was give me a bad taste in my mouth with females being in the service. If you cant handle the conversations going on or cant handle what you thought the conversation was about then maybe that job is not for you. Thats my military experience with females. My civilian experience is just as tainted. Im still waiting to find 1 female that hasnt in their mind been raped or attempted raped.

Regardless have how long she sat there, that dumb bitch of a nurse was NOT doing her job by saying the things she said to her, in fact, I guarantee what she said was some kind of violation of hospital policy. It doesn't matter how long she sat there, none of us were in this broads head to figure it out -- it could have been 5 minutes or 5 hours, it doesn't excuse the fact that the nurse even started the entire rant.
