Yes actually you can apply for a free cell phone from the state but you have to meet the criteria to recieve one. Of course thats pretty much irrelivant seeing as now a days you have to have internet to apply for jobs and you have to have a contact number to get hired. Cells phones are as cheap or cheaper then home phones. I would have to assume though seeing as you do not have a home a cell phone would be your only option.

So how many jobs is a 12 year old applying for that she needs a cell phone even though she doesn't have food? Or are we assuming that while being held captive by her mom in that office she made it to the public library to post a status update?

Where does it say a 12 year had a cell phone? What i do see is the article stating "Ramie Grimmer had posted a Facebook message on Monday "may die 2today" after her mother, Rachelle Grimmer, 38, took a supervisor hostage in ". That clearly states she did it after the hostige situation occured. Of which puts a 12 year old around dozens of computers and most likely cell phones from other people with plenty of internet access.

They updated the article since I first read it. If you read the article they were in the office of on worker with the worker, mom, and kids only in there. It is possible the office had a computer with internet access.

I know when i first got out the Corps i went to the unemployment office to get a listing of jobs in the area and they had internet then. So i doubt they got rid of it.

Reports from the grandmother of the kids, father's mother, she had serious mental issues, and CPS had been called a few times.
