Re: NBA 2011-2012
I have ten bucks on the heat to win it all, even though i dont want them to win. i will have the best of both worlds if they win or lose.
I said before the season started that the finals will be HEAT v OKC with the heat winning the title. my pre season prediction still has some chance.
All i know is that the spurs thunder series will be epic and that lebron james and dwayne wade are playing on another level right now.
heat pacers game 5 highlights- skip to 1:20 in the youtube clip. i know you all saw this play. block on the defensive side leads to a long pass off target to lebron, who catches and passes with one hand while falling out of bounds to a streaking d wade for the baseline dunk. dirt mcgirt. the cross court passes from d wade and lebron are fast breaks in 2 seconds. it is fun to watch.
* heres is an espn clip of the sequence in question- such amazing basketball*

Re: NBA 2011-2012
rigged ass draft. fuck david stern.
even players think its rigged. 10 NBA players tweeted about the Draft Lottery conspiracy | IamaGM.com
fix the damn officiating too... i dont think refs are fixing games but it is just horrendous to watch because there is absolutely no consistency from one player to another and one game to another. a/k/a superstar calls.

I agree that the refs suck, but not sure the draft is/was rigged. I thought it a little shady that the team the NBA itself did/does own won the lottery, but while listening to sports talk radio I changed my mind. A few points to consider:
1. In the history of the draft the #1 pick has about a 50/50 chance of becoming a good/great player. For every Tim Duncan and LeBron James there is a Kwame Brown and Greg Oden. Why would the league/commissioner risk not only a black eye for the league, but also possible prison time for something that isn't a sure fire win?
2. If the BKN Nets had won people would have screamed conspiracy because the league wants to help the new NY team get good because it helps the league make more money for a team in NY to be competitive over a team in NO.
3. If Cleveland had won people would have screamed conspiracy because the league wanted to help them out for them losing LeBron.
4. If Charlotte had won people would have screamed the league was trying to return a favor to the biggest name in the NBA, Michael Jordan. Jordan arguably made the NBA as popular as it is today, so they want to help him out, and keep him happy, so he continues to own a team.
There are just too many potential conspiracies for any of them to be accurate.

One of the good qualities about MMA is that the ref has a pretty hard time screwing up a match!

Re: NBA 2011-2012
agree with some and i find it hard to believe that the draft was rigged. however i fully believe stern rigged the 85 ewing draft. but really what does it say about the perception of the league and stern that so many people in the business and fans believe that stern does shady things to 'help' the league and give certain people/teams unfair advantages. just look around the web at basketball forums most fan votes 60-70% of the fans believe the nba draft was rigged. that perception is insane.
i mean why was the next owner of the hornets there even though he doesnt own the team yet?
also cleveland did get the #1 pick last year (kyrie irving) a year after lebron left. to be fair though they did have the 2nd worst record. so i dont think this was rigged either.
stern is great for the NBA as a business but absolutely horrible for the passion and integrity of the game. when really great basketball will lead to big money. again this comes back to the officiating and BS rules left open to interpretation. remember a few years back when the refs were on strike or some BS and the replacements called the games pretty much by the book, the games were crappy at first and boring because of a lot of fouls and stoppages but once the players got used to it and adjusted the basketball was so much better because it was consistent.
