The Hunger Games (movie)
So I went and saw this movie today, and it was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. The start of the movie was a little bit slow, but it keeps you entertained. When the movie gets going, it is action packed, and keeps you at the edge of your seat right until the very end. I can't wait to see the next one, and hope it will be as good as this one. If you haven't seen it yet, go and see it. It is definitely worth the money. I'm kinda surprised that nobody has made a thread about this yet (or at least that I have seen).

Re: The Hunger Games (movie)
read the damn books first then go see the movie.
Things I liked: They didnt play up the romance angle too hard, was just enough to make you wonder. The scene with Rue dying was spot on 100%. Jennifer Lawrence. The depiction of the people that live in the Capitol (pretty much the way I envisioned them in the book), the games themselves and a whole bunch of other things. The actual Game Control Center, it was kind of how I imagined just a big hologram where they can just drop/do anything they want at any time. The fact they didnt go into too much detail about how the mutts were the slain tributes from that game. The killing/suicide/assination of the head game maker.
Things I didnt like: The unnecessary camera movement in some scenes (like at the beginning during the reaping it was way too much). They didnt go further in the friendship between Katniss and Cinna before the game. There's more things, but the good far outweighs the bad in this adaptation.
Cant wait for the second one. Really excited to see what they do with the arena in that one

Re: The Hunger Games (movie)
I blazed through all 3 books in about 4 days months ago a few months ago and have been so excited to see the movie since then. The book series was amazingly addictive and went straight into my all time favorites list. From what I've been told the movie does not disappoint.
The biggest complaint I've seen on the internet about the movie is that they made Cinna and Rue black. Which is just stupid because even in the book Cinna is described as having darker skin, which I guess people assumed he was tanned but I always took it as him being black. Besides, Cinna is played by Lenny fucking Kravitz. I never really pictured anything for Rue except that she was innocent and adorable, and from what I've heard the actress nailed that.
I'm going to see the movie tomorrow night and I'll post back here with what I think.

I just died inside...why is our society so fucking ignorant? THIS...This is why I hate people...face-palm....
On topic, I have heard many good things things about the series. However, the one thing I've heard more than most is that the Battle Royale series that Trigger mentioned is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the hunger games series.

Would you advise reading the book(s) first before seeing the movie? For example I just saw the Girl with the Dragon tattoo, only knowing that the books were amazing and hearing good things about the American-made movie, and it was the best movie I've seen in a long time. Though now that I saw the movie first, I'm not all up in arms to read the book. If I were to have read the book first, I would be very eager to see the movie on the other hand...you get what I mean? Seeing the movie first kind of ruins the essence of the book, is the best way I can put it. I do plan on still reading the book, but I wish I would have read it before I saw the movie.
I guess I answered my question...your opinions?

Re: The Hunger Games (movie)
@Blonde, yes, definitely read the books first.
@Andy, Hunger Games may be the new Twilight in terms of popularity, but it is so different in just about every other aspect that it's not even funny. The main characters of the two series (Bella, Katniss) are polar opposites of each other. I remember one part in the Twilight series where Bella literally falls on the ground and cries in the middle of a superhuman battle and her boyfriend does all the fighting. She doesn't even try to help. What the fuck Bella? At least move out the way so you don't get kicked in the head or something, god forbid it might actually knock some sense into you.

I saw it the other day. Meh.
I didn't mind the shakey cam on the fight scenes, but the camera movement during the slower more dialogue driven scenes was terrible. It kept taking me out of the movie.
The cgi on the dog things at the end was pretty bad... And I actually laughed when the girl dies because she is too busy monologging.
I'd give it a 6/10.
