you figure out how much you spent.
Granted i know im cheap. My car has been down for some time now because i loaned it out and got it back with a bad clutch and a reverse issue. I broke it all down and found it needed an input shaft, reverse gear, a 1, 2 slider, clutch, and a flywheel friction plate. Instead of just replacing those parts i decided to do a full rebuild. The trans has 150k miles so it seemed logical to replace all the bearings and sychros.
I have issues parting with money so i manage to do it by getting a piece here and a piece there. Two or 3 weeks ago i ordered the rebuild kit, input shaft, reverse gear, and 1-2 slider. It stung dropping 1200 but a few of those parts are becoming hard to find available.
I dropped it all off at a shop i know 4 days ago to have it put together because the choice was let them do it for 350 or spend 200 on a press and do it myself. So fuck it i can be lazy. Yesterday he calls me up and says its done.
Now with an end in sight i get a hair up my ass and order everything else. I guess the up side is i will be cleaning chunks of tire off the back of my car again soon but damn 2500 bucks. I now remember why i like dropping a bit here and a bit there. I feel dirty like i just got raped.

Oh yeah and another thing that kind of irritated me. When i was paying for my clutch the website had a tab for how you heard about them. I checked other seeing as it was required in order to finish the order. Then another tab pops up for how i heard of it and it was required. So i put "Seeing as its required none of your damn business.".
What the hell is wrong with these damn places anymore? I just spent 600 bucks on a spec stage 3+ clutch. Take your questions and shove them up your ass.

Re: you figure out how much you spent.
It expensive but i got my transmission back and all the other parts have arrived minus the clutch. Tomorrow i'll put it up on jack stands and pull the flywheel, get it all cleaned up and replace the friction disc, then install the new slave. With any luck the clutch will arrive and i can slap it all together. Of course i have to do that between looking and bidding new jobs, looking for my new house that will be a rental in a year, getting this guy his jetta back, and looking at a sunbird to see why it wont shift. Gonna be a busy day.

I know how you feel. I am over $4K into the PA system for my band and we haven't had a gig in months. We went from a 4 piece to a 3 piece to increase the cut of each band member and pretty much changed half of our set list. Lots of work and lots of practice for not much reward.
Not to mention the $2K I spent on a Les Paul that I barely ever play. I didn't need it when I bought it, and now that I have it, I barely use it. The only reason I don't want to sell it is because I always wanted an Les Paul gold top, even if I know it will stay home when I play out.

I feel ya, theres a reason I havent totaled up what all has gone into my $550 truck. It needs a motor cause this one has a rod knock and a front end rebuild. Motor is like 500 bucks and I'm done, front end is another 300 bucks... Oh well. Better than paying car payments :P
