    Wal-Mart breaks your car.

So, I went in to get my oil changed at Wal-Mart today. The short version is that they broke the Oil Pressure Sending Unit while they were trying to replace the oil filter. They tried to lie to me about it and say that it was already broken, but the fact that they didn't show it too me when they found it, and the fact that the pressure gauge was working fine when I dropped it off but was completely broken when I drove off, got me to thinking about it. Went back later and they basically admitted they broke it and are going to pay for the repairs + a new oil change. Still, sucks though cause I won't have my car for the next few days because of them.

And hopefully you'll find a more reputable shop and let the shop manager there know you're doing so.

there was a horror story like that at my local walmart but they refused to pay for repairs

I had my vehicle serviced at the Wal-Mart in Espanola, New Mexico. I had asked them to replace my wiper blades, the blades were not replaced, which I paid for. I had a basic oil change and 4 days later my engine blew. They were not willing to work with me, they blamed it on me completely. I absolutely DO NOT recommend that you trust these incompent employees with NO experience to work on your vehicle.

meh, if you have ground clearance on your car, or if your car has the oil filter valve accessible without needing a lift :/

And if you have one of them fancy top oil vacuum suckas to suck the old oil out of the dip stick port. I've got a LOT of tools and i still cannot do my own oil change (though i can replace the filter)

I have more than enough tools and what not. I'm just lazy... It really doesnt save money. $35 is just too convenient. I spend $20 on oil and filter. Then I have to get dirty and find an oil disposal place. Fuck it, I just take it to the lube shop.

Not to defend them but there are very few ways a motor can run for 4 days and it be their fault it blew up. Leaking oil pan plug, loose plug that fell out 4 days later, double gasket on the oil filter. Double gasket would have most likely blown the same day and a loose plug would also normally fall out in less then 4 days. Maybe they forgot to change the wipers but the engine most likely wasn't their fault. People beat the crap out of their cars and never service them properly and then want to blame the last person that touched them. Tis the way of life.

It took me 3 days to get the parts for the ac system on that damn vw i was working on. Hes had the car since the day after i got the parts and his window motor died yesterday. Thats somehow my fault according to him. I simply told him the ac parts are in the engine compartment not the door. So how could that be my fault? Get rid of your polish made germany car.

Yeah you really dont save much doing your own oil changes any more. Getting rid of the waste is getting harder to do here. Save the environment but find a hole to pour your used oil in because we wont let companies put in waste tanks. Its a fucking joke any more.
