TPG Winter meetup?

I am not opposed to local/regional events. I know of probably 15-20 people that are in the greater DFW metroplex, and we will likely have some meetups to do a Friday/Saturday night thing more often. I am talking about large groups that aren't just locals.

I'm at the mid point for most people haha. It's about 5 hrs for the DFW guys, around 8 for the Houston guys, the Nashville guys are about 4-5.

With that said there's not really jack shit here other than a neat downtown area. Granted I've never really looked, so maybe there are.

One trip to Texas a year is enough, and I haven't even been yet. You want another large meetup like QC, then move it out of Texas.
Sucks for the Texans, but hey it sucks for the rest of TPG that doesn't live in Texas to go to QC.

So give a location that would be better, and by better I mean for everyone, not just you. If we did CA or NV then yes, it might be closer for those in and around that area, but way longer for those in the East. Same if you go to the East coast for those in the West. KS or NE would be the true center of the US, but who the hell wants to go there? The reason most say Texas is ideal is it is centrally located for those driving/flying from the East/West coast, and is the home to the largest percentage of people that attend.

How many more people would show up if it was elsewhere, and how many wouldn't go. If we add 3, but lose 10, then how is it better?

How about Kansas City, Missouri? They got great Internet thanks to Google and it is a central location. Just an idea though I would prefer Texas being from here and all.

I am not opposed to KC, Chicago, or especially Vegas, but if I had to place a wager we might have 1-2 people that would travel to those locations that would NOT travel to Houston/Dallas/Austin, but I would bet we would have 10 or so that would NOT travel to those locations that would travel to Houston/Dallas/Austin. Just an educated guess, but I am confident enough that I would put money on it.

I am not opposed to a Texas location, though I prefer Vegas just for entertainment value. People talk about doing a LAN party type thing, does anyone have the resources/location etc to make that happen? If there are 20 people in the texas area and another 10-20 fly in for it it would take some equipment/space etc to make that LAN party work. If it could be done locally by the Texans I wouldn't be opposed to flying to Houston or DFW to attend. I would have to buy a decent gaming laptop because I sure as hell am not hauling my full tower case on a plane.

well fuck no more dallas. been there, done that and it's too long of a drive (for me). austin is a def, party on dirty 6th!
