I HATE LOSING DATA
So Friday after class I came home and turned on my rig. I walk downstairs to get munchies ie. oreo's. I get back to my room and find a BSOD(blue screen of death). i hurried up and shut if off and wait a minute and trun it on to see what went wrong. Well i have it Pass word protected on startup, i get my password in and it starts up. My asus monitoring pops up and i watch my processor usage it goes from 20% of one core Baock down to 2%of both cores, And then it Jumps to 50% of both and then falls of again and then back up to all of both cores then another bsod. i ended up reloading windows from point A lol and i am still waiting on CSS to be done downloading. so il be back in later it is at like 95% loaded so. i never figured out what happend to it i just got tired of tring so i just started over thank god xfx puts their driver up for download cause i lost all of it lol. if you got ideas on what happened, do share. oh. i ran avast the night before and shut it off so i dont think it was a virus. THanx Ty (a.k.a. PENG)

you never know, you need a really good virus scan, security program if you dont have one. I have norton internet security, and its very effective. It will take everything off your system, including all the spyware ect. and keep you pretty much unable to get anything. its like fifty bucks a year and you can download it through their website

Re: I HATE LOSING DATA
Norton Internet Security is definitely the most secure program out there, but I personally have never been a fan of Norton products. I had Norton AV 2005 and spent several hours configuring it to let me do what I wanted to do online, and it still kept causing a bunch of conflicts, so I eventually uninstalled it (which wasn't a walk in the park either, let me tell you). Then again, I might just be biased against it because I work at a help desk, and every third wireless/VPN connectivity problem is because of Norton...

Norton is lame, especially for gaming.
My solution and recommendation to anyone who hasn't tried it: NOD32
Great anti virus program that will run on any OS and I haven't had a problem with it for games. It's easy to keep up to date and I've never had any problems with viruses or anything. It'll even warn you if something is potentially dangerous programs and applications that you download or try to install.
$40 for a year, $60 for 2 years and you can download it off their site.
Only thing is, it might be hard to configure at first if you are use to Norton since the setup is a lot different on how it does things, but after you mess with it a little, it's not so hard.

(It upgrades all of the virus definitions and data and encrypts it with SSL). Throw in the normal Symantec problems and I'll be up here all night or all weekend trying to get it to work.
I guess I have to be fair though - the Symantec's Backup Exec software is stable and can be uninstalled and upgraded without much fuss.
Oh, Pengface - No one else has said it so I will: Be sure to back up anything that is important so you won't loose anything next time. It's obvious, but so many people don't do it anyway.
