Effective immediately the National Football League will change its name to the No Contact League. All hitting, tackling, and otherwise damaging plays will be deemed illegal, and will be replaced with 2 hand touch below the waste. If you doubt what I say is true don't check ESPN, NFL.com, or any other sports site, just watch this video for all the proof you need.
Perfectly clean shoulder to shoulder hit now equals a personal foul. Bring back the good ol' days.

I can actually understand that call. It's not like Ryan Clark was trying to jar the ball loose to prevent a touchdown. Cruz never touched the ball, and was in fact just standing there at that point cause the play was over. Clark absolutely leveled him.
The refs are gonna call that every time.

Re: NFL changes name to NCL!
Football has become the biggest pussy sport ever.
I remember when I played, and we were on kick off return.. I would pick the biggest guy on the field trottin'/half-assing down the field after our kick returner - run full speed at him and throw my body right in his numbers - decleated the living shit out of them. Looked a lot like this:
Same could be said on defense as a cornerback. I can't count the number of recievers I've decleated crossing the middle of the field catching a pass.
Football has become too soft as of lately.

The play wasn't over. Cruz wasn't just standing there, and the ball was still live. Taylor as still trying to come up with an interception from the bobbled ball, and Cruz was moving back towards the ball (he was stopped when he was hit, because he was changing direction). To top it off, there was no blow to the head.
Neither stipulation for the call was valid.

The NFL probably will go to 2-hand touch eventually, just so the scores become even biggerz! Since, you know, in the US games need to be 200-198 to be interesting, and any sport that doesn't encourage scoring every 2 seconds is a boring pussy sport!

Re: NFL changes name to NCL!
Things have changed a lot since then Hub. Leather helmets were replaced, for one
And in some ways football is much softer than it was in the past, but in others it's just as brutal. One of the major differences is that because of the increases in protection, defenders will literally launch themselves as hard as they can trying to deliver big hits, without worrying about injuring themselves in the process. This is a big difference from the fundamentals that were taught in the past, where wrapping up during a tackle was considered the way to do it.
In a lot of ways I agree that football is moving in the wrong direction when it comes to the rules they've implemented, but with a lot of those changes the league doesn't have a whole lot of choice. Either they make the changes and therefor change the sport, or they don't make the changes and eventually get sued by players for not making the game safer. Either way the NFL is screwed, because if they don't work to make the game safer there will also be a public relations backlash.
