This is disturbing ... maybe they are just trying to "create" controversy but while watching football today I was disturbed by the number witless wonders pondering about the Heisman "race.”

One group was saying … “well, you can’t judge Te’o by his stats” … really? wtf? Are you kidding? Are you saying that Te’o has “unmeasureable” intangibles that Johnny Manziel does not? And then they do back bends and twists to contrive “stats” that suggest that Johnny isn’t all that. Why? Would it be that if you actually use his stats like you do when trying to compare any other QB Johnny makes the rest look like a joke?

Heisman Projection: 56 ballots

How it works:

• We count actual votes. We count only the picks from people who claim to be actual voters. (The organization doesn't release a list of voters, so we can't verify.)
• We make two assumptions. 1) That the voter turnout in each region will be equal, and 2) that the undisclosed votes in each region will mirror the publicly disclosed votes,
• Based on those assumptions, we total up the votes in each region and then extrapolate the totals.
• We continually update as more information comes in.

Well, here it is. We've tracked down 180 ballots - just shy of 20% of the 928 votes - and we're making our final projection.
To all those impatient Aggie fans out there: This is the earliest projection I think we've ever made. Typically, we wait until Friday afternoon. Sometimes, Saturday morning. And, when it was Ingram/Gerhart/McCoy/Suh/Tebow, it was about 90 minutes before the start of the Heisman presentation.
Drum roll, please... It's Johnny Manziel, with 81% of the points possible. That's 81% of the way toward a unanimous first-place selection. That number may be slightly inflated, but regardless, he'll likely finish somewhere in the top six or seven biggest Heisman winners ever - somewhere between Desmond Howard and Cam Newton. (Lots more historical Heisman stats here.)
As the ballots have rolled in all week, that hasn't changed. We've seen a slightly smaller number of voters participating in our effort this year - after the heavy pressure put on them this year by the Heisman Trust - but we're confident in the trendlines.
