Wow. I'm a book collector (mostly pre 1800 stuff) and I didn't realize a first edition of this went for 15 grand. Looks like you can get a good first edition second printing for well under 1000 though.

QQ. The edition my family has is a first edition. My grandmother would read it to all of us (her grandkids, my aunt, and my uncle). My aunt has the copy right now, but my sister wants a copy.

Kanati, my cousin pointed me to etsy. Lots of pre-PC versions for about $100.

Did you look on Abe? I'll bet you could get a decent one for $10-20. Obviously not first edition, but that book was in print for decades. There must be lots of them in decent condition just looking for a home.
