Tolkien 911
Okay so how is it... 60 years before Bilbo's 111th birthday we hear a story about the mines of moria being lost many years ago to this white Orc. Yet Gimli, many many many years later is shocked to find out the place is over run with Goblins and the king is dead?

Re: Tolkien 911
I got half way through the fellowship but was done with college before I finished. I'll end up getting the books some day. Never read the hobbit. But after watching the first movie, I kind hope Jackson will dip into the additional text to try and make another film. They may not be 100 video format of every detail from the books but they are dam epic films. I enjoyed them all, and like the fact that there are 2 more films coming out because its a great story and setting.

They are a pretty good story. There are other books by different authors that I think would make far more epic movies...but I doubt anyone has the budget to do them justice...and none of them would have the following that the Tolkien books do, simply because he is the originator of modern day fantasy. Not to knock Tolkien...I like his books, great stories...but his writing style drives me fucking insane...many authors I think had better, more engaging stories, that weren't a headache to read.

Re: Tolkien 911
I was introduced to the Hobbit and Trilogy when I was 13 in the mid 80's. I read all 4 8 or 9 times that summer. There is a lot of back story and things mentioned but never expanded upon. I would love to see more books/movies covering times and adventures the originals missed.
