It's not a French musical movie.

It's a British movie, based on a British musical (which was modified for American production), based on a failed French musical, based on an audio-only concept album, based on part of a hugely successful French novel (by Victor Hugo), which was about a failed French uprising, which followed a successful French revolution (their second) that switched from one monarch to a different monarch, which followed the Bourbon Restoration, which came after Emperor Napoleon got his ass kicked, which came - by many steps that you can look up yourself - after the original French Revolution which they sorta based on our American Revolution (except for the whole cutting-off-royal-heads part, that was their idea).

Apparently it's up to the English-speaking world to celebrate the poor French bastards upon whose toil has been propped up a wide variety of Kings, Emperors, Consuls, Presidents, Prime Ministers, Directors, Committees, and Conventions.

But, yeah, I'm probably not going to see it either.

I do have a question though: in a contest between General Maximus Decimus Meridius and Wolverine, who wins?

Second question: what if it's a singing contest?

Not yet. Perhaps this weekend. Great book. Read several times and I think this screen adaptation looks pretty good. Last one I saw was in a literature class in high school so it's been a while.
