Update:

They finally got a confession out of the guy that we suspected stole my ATV. Long story short he admitted he and his girl friend came to my house on that Sunday night, took the hardware off my gate, loaded the ATV up on a trailer and sold it for $600. He is already on parole and his parole officer said he would get an automatic 5 years for being involved in a crime plus what he gets for breaking and entering and grand theft. This guy is looking at 12+ years for $600. Meth must be one powerful drug. Once he gets out of jail he will owe my insurance company $3,800.

Kudos to the detective (my friend) for staying on top of this thing. I know if I would have lived in a different city then this would not have been the case. I guess I will stop bitching about my property taxes going forward.

heh, my girlfriend and I feel similarly about the town we live in. Taxes are fairly high compared to where we may be moving in the near future, but the city's infrastructure is well maintained, the municipal services are unprecedented, the schools are excellent and everything in general is clean and inviting. We'll be sad to leave town, but we can't get a house within our budget here.

The city I live in is Mountain Brook, AL. It is exactly as you describe from the stand point of top ranking police, fire and school systems along with high property costs.

Our school system receives media attention from some of the big groups like the washington post. Average SAT/ACT score is 1829/25.4 and 97% of students go to a 4 year college 2% to a two year college and I guess the remaining 1% have babies LOL.

it is amazing how an addiction can control you, i have seen the effects of addiction first hand and its scary when you see people do crazy things for something they feel they can't live without.

Good to hear! It's awesome that the guy got exactly what he deserved. Speaking of which... we actually managed to chase someone down last week who was taking pictures of people in the women's washroom in the building we work in at UBC. Apparently he's a transfer student from China, and he not only got arrested but also kicked out of the university, and possible sent back home.

So, yeah... I believe the general word of the day is OWNED!
