I'd move to a Port city. I hate not living near the ocean, much less FRESH cheap Seafood.

Mine would defiantly be on the water. That is what I call home. I grew up on the water and miss it dearly.

Arizona has very few drinking/handgun laws and you never have to worry about Daylight savings time, we are the same time all year round.

I live here (Flagstaff Arizona) at an elevation of 7000 feet, population 70k at the base of the San Fransisco Peaks, home to Northern Arizona University, and the training grounds for many Olympic national teams.

A short 30 minute drive south and you are in the red rocks of sedona!

About another hour or so and you are in Phoenix!

...and there's always the dart board method of choosing a place too

What's your skill set? What kind of activities do you do? My opinion is split between SF Bay Area and Seattle, with weather and jobs being the tie-breaker (thus why I live in SF Bay Area now).

Seriously no one mentioned Kansas City (Kansas, or Missouri)? It has the Google Fiber connections!!!! What else do you need?

You could live on the river if you so choose, and I also happen to know its a major shipping hub for the USA.

I'm looking to stay in the woods, isolated yet still close to a medium sized town. I've been thinking New Hampshire.

When faced with the same situation a few years back, I landed in Germany. Next stop will be in the USA, but I have no idea where yet.

Don't pick New Orleans. Great place to visit if you're a party person or if you like history and are interested in indulging in a culture all its own. I wouldn't recommend living in the city though.

Granted, I've lived within 30 mins of it my entire life so I could be biased. Not a fan of the historical housing types or any of that.

Although the food is a huge plus. Not to mention, if you're an official resident, you're automatically eligible for TOPS (Tuition Opportunity Program) which will pretty much pay the majority of your public college tuition, so if you were thinking long term with kids, that'd be something to look at.

I guess I have mixed feelings about this place
