What would happen if the US just withdrew back into it's own borders. Military wise, foreign aid money wise, trade goods and agricultural wise. How long would some of the other countries be able to sustain themselves?
England, is notoriously self sufficient. Canada can stand on it's own two feet. There are others that can too. But for every country that can take care of itself, there is one that relies on help from the outside. Is the rest of the World Community ready to step up and help these other countries?
When one of the World Community has a problem, be it a natural disaster, a man made disaster (ex. oil spill) or any other number of problems....who is it that is the first on the scene to help? Who is it that sends millions of dollars to try and help rebuild towns or feed people? Who is it that comes in with state of the art technology and helps build water processing plants so that a country has fresh water and doesn't have to drink disease ridden water?
Our country thinks so much of the rest of the world that when one of our own cities was almost wiped from the map, very little money or help was ever sent to rebuild or clean up, it was still being sent outside the US. Did any help come from any outside source? No. Not a penny or ounce of help was ever sent to New Orleans beyond that from other states, here in the US. Do you think that Indonesia would ever send any help to these people that suffered the same fate as they had when a Tidal Wave was sent over their islands and the US sent food, water, clothes and building supplies and man power to help out? No, no one ever showed up to help.
So I say fine. America is in fact full of morons. We help a world that wants no help or anything to do with us. Yes, sounds a lot like that we are the morons of the World Community. I say that we should just take all of our toys and go home and stay. We have plenty that we could be doing right here at home.
