    Britain- US poodle?

Has Britain become nothing more than a subservient pet of the US? This has been a media disscussion point in both serious and non-serious contexts for a while now, and I'm interested to know your views.

    Britain- US poodle?

The government certainly has (or at least Tony Blair has). The British people on the other hand aren't pawns of the United States, so at least it's not a complete disaster that they've gotten into the same boat with us.

I have infinately times more respect for Great Britain than I do for the United States. I trust the courage and strength of the British people will prevent them from being associated with us for much longer.

    Britain- US poodle?

Being an American I think that the history of the US and UK is very closely linked. It has been since we broke away over 200 years ago. We share a lot of common history.

    Britain- US poodle?

I think we're too close. Bush and Blair are friends (not just professionally). It would be best if we stuck with our neighbors in the EU, who are more friendly and less egotistical.

I think it's fine the way it is. Britain isn't the U.S. lacky, far from it. The British are too fiercely independent to allow that to happen. IF I were Britain I would play both sides of the fence and keep close relations with both the U.S. and the E.U. Think of Britain as a sort of bridge between the two sides of the Atlantic. Britain has a mix of American and European culture. Actually I shouldn't say that. It's not that Britain has a mix of American culture, it's that America has some British culture in it which links us with Britain.

    Britain- US poodle?

As a people we may be independent but we're chained to the decisions of our government and it's questionable whether with postal voting, election fraud, and no term-limit we're ever going to be able to remove that government from power. Democracy is an excellent way to convince people they have a choice in things at times.

That's the main problem really our government is the US's poodle in all of this. What the people want is largely irrelevant unless they're prepared to back that up with a force of arms they don't possess.

    Britain- US poodle?

I think Britain should keep a good relationship, but not too close, the same applys to the EU, i don't want my nation becoming a puppet for the EU or the US.

    Re: In a Box

I was watching the episode when it aired. The first episode JT hosted was the funniest SNL in five years, so I was watching, and the video was censored. I was rolling so hard, and I watched the unedited version the next week online, it wasn't nearly as funny. Its like south park when they bleep shit out, its often funnier.
