Traveler Ship Generator (version 2)
Well folks, for any of you interested in tinkering with and/or helping me debug I've got what should be a finalized version of the starship generator attached below. Most of the instructions should be readily explained but if you need a full listing of the rules on design and combat try this site: (it's also linked in the file)
Book 5: High Guard
You'll need to have windows excel to view/work the file. This is my working prototype to be incorporated into a web based version (written in ASP) that will then save the ships in a database to incorporate into a turn based online combat system.
I also added a UPC ship stat page (after the ship sheet page) which will allow you to copy/paste basic information on any ship that you create.
I've also got the basics of a star system generator about done. (still debugging it) but it'll generate full star systems including star types (also binary/trinary systems), planets, gas giants, asteroid fields, then around the planets moons and rings. It will then generate planetary populations, statistics and the like. (it makes the ship builder look rather simple). If you'd like a look at the charts & tables for this try here:
Book 6: Scouts, update
I'm hoping to have an online test version by late spring for any of you interested in both testing and playing this.
Enjoy and have fun tinkering.

Traveler Ship Generator (version 2)
I've found a few glitches and fixed the Ship Generator and have also include a small craft generator as well (for fighters, shuttles and other craft)
I think it's finally bug free, but do let me know if you find one.
I've also included a UPC layout for both starships (after ship sheet) and at the bottom of small craft page for easily showing basic ship statistics

Traveler Ship Generator (version 2)
Star System Generator (version 4) is finished.
Warning before opening that it has many (probably 1000+) random # generators and probably 4 times as many if/then statements so will be slow on older computers.
Once again this will be all server based when I create the online version, but the excel calculation sheets help me work out the logic and kinks. I've also not protected the sheets so you can accidentally corrupt the file if you delete something you shouldn't but if any one wants to play arround with it and allert me if you find any bugs/errors I'd apreciate it.
I've had to zip it as it was over 3.5 megs in size
What the file does:
Basic Sheet:
Generate the basics of a star system (# and type(s) of stars in system)
Generate other system componants (Gas Giants, Asteroid belts, Empty orbits, & Planets)
Determines orbits for system componants
SC# sheets: Statics for stars (identical lookup sheets for primary, binary, & trinary stars)
System Locator:
Places system componats into orbits & determines Gas Giant size (0-9)
Star System: (meat & potatos of generator)
Determines Planetary Size, Atmosphere, Hydroponics and Population of planets (and asteroid belts) based on orbital zones
Calculates # of satilites for planets and gas giants
Determines Size, Atmosphere, Hydroponics, & Population of satilites
To safely generate a new system just hit delete in the yellow box in upper left corner. I know that the current output isn't really too printable, I'm working on an easier way to print it (that will be the next sheet when I have time)
This is about as far as I can go with a spread sheet, from here the planet/satilite with the largest population would then be used to determine government type, Law level, Tech Level and other things for that star system. All of which can be more easily done once the main program is written.
All this info will be stored in a data base as all of this info is for only one star system and there could be 40-50 such systems in a given sector (80x100 parsec region) and any number of given sectors in a gaming zone. But these will provide the starting locations and empire building blocks for the various players to play the game on to develope and build their space fleets.

How did you get here?
Please vote, and also CHANGE YOUR VOTE (say remove vote, and then revote) as you come to TTP over the next few days.
we need to know who can see it right, and who has to still connect by IP.
For example....when sjt types in texasteamplayers.com in his browser....it comes here. When I type it in.....I go to the old site. SJT is sbcglobal.net, and I'm houston.rr.com.
How about you?
