Not sure if its the same down south but up here at Jewel, they have a section just dedicated to powdered mixes (gravy, taco flavoring, stir fry, etc...) and some of the pouches are geared just for slow cookers. You can get some good ideas there as well.

    Slowcooking is awesome.

I do it but not as often as I'd like to.

    Definitely a staple of anyone's crock-pot recipes:

I usually add in some small red potatoes, baby carrots, sweet onion slices, and whole mushrooms. Freaking delicious every time.

    BBQ Pulled Pork:
    1 - Pork Roast
    1 - Liter 7UP/Dr. Pepper/Coke/Diet Coke (whichever you prefer)

Throw those together in a crock-pot for 8 hours, take the meat out (its now soaked up a lot of the sugar from the pop), break it apart and add as much of your favorite BBQ sauce (I usually use Sweet Baby Rays) as you want, along with some of the juice from the crock-pot to give it more of a sloppy consistency. Let that sit for about 15-30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Im sure you can add in some onions, diced pickles, etc, but the above is a really easy meal with very few ingredients and very little prep.

I'll see if I can think of some more that Ive done.
    That pulled pork sounds amazing

One thing I should note is that I have quite a few Jewish friends. What are good substitutes for pork that would be kosher?

Ive also done shredded/pulled beef the same way just used A1 and worcestershire sauce instead of BBQ.

Not sure if thats kosher. tbh I dont even know what makes anything kosher.

    Brisket.

Try it with mushrooms and onions. I'd be tempted to use some dairy, but that won't fly with your Jewish friends.

There's only one place a brisket can go... and it's on a smoker.

    Re: Slowcooking

I don't know anything about kosher foods or what jew's can / can not eat...never actually had any practicing jew friends.

but for some crazy easy and good fajitas......

skirt steak NON tenderized so you can slice the membrane off the back
    Limes 2 large ones quarted
    thats it really

    but I usually add
a couple dashes of Worcestershire sauce
a pinch of either cayenne or ancho chilli powder
    a small pinch of garlic
about 4to6 ounces of shiner bock but any good dark beer will do except Guinness it is to heavy and fouls the flavors think sam adams, new castle etc.

throw it all in the crock pot and let it slow cook for 4 to 6 hours depending on the amount of meat and fluid you initially added.

when done you should be able to fork out strings of delicious meat... throw on a tortilla with you preferred condiments and a cold beer or margarita....heaven my friend...heaven,
