that to have any loan, federal or private at my school you need to be at least half time. The school didn't bother to tell me until this afternoon well after the last day to add classes for the first half of the quarter or for web classes. This means I don't get to go see my sister next month and that I won't be able to go to Defcon.

Also haven't been on a proper vacation in 5 years. This sucks.

...the entire reason I did not finish college was because they did not keep me informed of a policy change that retro-actively disqualified me for all gov-loans. So about half way through the school year they were like: "By the way, you know that financial package that you accepted in the beginning of the year, well that has been invalidated. and you owe us $25k to finish the year......"

I am normally a positive person, when talking about college I am a very very negative guy.

Actually, this is disclosed to you before you can accept your first student loan. They make you go through a 'entrance counseling' and they brief you on that stuff.

It does suck but by going less than six hours and taking say a $5k loan just seems like there's not a proper use of funds. The thought of slumming it out through college sucks but if you can minimize the amount you owe coming out you will thank yourself in the end. I get to see roughly $180 of my paycheck go out the door each month for 10 years till I pay mine off. Imagine if I invested $180 for 10 years?

I just signed away for a 5 digit loan myself... Selling the soul...

Ahh I remember the days of undergrad and the 4 digit loans....

It gets nuts. I often don't think continuing school, or at least financing it is worh it unless you snag a higher payijg job in the end. I will be paying my loans for another 7+ years, but I have a lot of cash saved, so I may pay them off early.
