a driver sees a cop and slows down to less than the speed limit.
Example of this. I left work and was driving down a four lane road home. Two cars were pretty much side by side in front of me. We come over a hill and a cop has someone pulled over going in the opposite direction. You can plainly see the cop writing a ticket on the other side of the median. Both drivers cut down to almost 10 mph under the speed limit.
I highly doubt the cop is going to stop writing the ticket. Hop in their car, jump a median to get you for going 2 mph over the speed limit. If you are trying to hide something slamming on the brakes and driving painfully slow isn't being discreet. Because everyone sees you driving like an a-hole and are probably verbally saying it to themself. (at least I was.)
Happens on the highway all the time. People will be going the speed limit see a cop and slow way down. In Kansas I have never gotten a ticket for going 5 over on city streets and 5-10 over on highway.
Not sure why it bothers me so much but chances are by the time you saw the cop he already had your speed.

Cause it's retarded. Cops aren't stupid. Some people never learn.
You're not the only one with this as a pet peeve.

I've never understood why people do this; they're only attracting attention towards themselves. When I see a cop, I drive the way I normally do, even go 5 over the speed limit like a boss.

I have seen cops pull 5-6 people over in one swoop.
As they are writing the ticket, they wave them over to the side.. if they keep going, they just radio it in to the next unit down the road.Kraker Jak liked this post

If they were going to pull you over they would pull you over. Slowing way down isn't going to save you. Also I am still curious how an officer is going to radar you when they are out of their car with their back to you and only a ticket book and a pen in their hand. (Our local PD rides one officer per car.)
I never miss. I simply fire warning shots.

They have been doing it a while. They can sense your speed.
Also if you're the one guy faster than the rest. That's a sign.

Re: a driver sees a cop and slows down to less than the speed limit.
Sorry if I don't trust an officer's "sense" he may be able to sense I am speeding but can he legitemately pull me over and write a ticket? Pull me over sure, and give a warning but he tried to ticket how could he put down the right speed. I haven't had a speeding ticket in a long time but doesn't the speed determine the fine?
If I could have gotten around those cars I would have been the faster car but I would have also been going the speed limit. I am just saying going under the speed limit when around a cop is pointless. You can still go the speed you aren't breaking a law. And if a cop is going to write you a ticket for 2mph over the speed limit I would find it hilarious and be proud that he has nothing better to do.I never miss. I simply fire warning shots.

In a perfect world maybe.
In the real world he can pull you over and simply fish a reason.
And most of the time people give them reasons.
