A stick is for the driving experience these days. It used to be that sticks had better performance (in the right hands at least) and better mileage. Now neither is true. Both of my cars have manual transmissions and the wife's has an auto. I hate driving her car. The CVT auto is awful. But I wished I was in it the day I was in my STI and got stuck in six hours of traffic jam on the autobahn. A tanker truck crashed and the fire melted the asphalt. They diverted traffic to the B roads but someone crashed there too causing a tremendous backup. Like any clutch in a performance car, my STI has a pretty stiff pedal and the traffic never completely stopped. It was slow stop/go for six hours. I could barely walk the next day. My left knee was killing me. But as long as they still sell then I will always opt for the stick. No car that was primarily mine has ever been an automatic in the 25 years I have been driving. Even my Saab 9-5 wagon sitting in the driveway is a stick.

Hey. I said it was probably a great car. Not my cup of tea though. Don't like em.
A few old cars I do like...
'67 Camaro
'69 Firebird
'69 Olds 442
and the random stang... c3 vettes after '76 or so... old cougars can be nice... OLD stuff... almost exclusively not.

Re: Car's and shit...
I like the more obscure muscle cars. The regular Mustangs and Cameros (of the late 60's-early 70s), are just kinda boring. Seen too many.
I'll take a 68 Cougar, or a 69-70 Boss 429 (first car, post lottery win), or an AMC Javelin over almost any other. I also love the c3 vettes. Batmobiles ftw.
