That's my motto too. I'll drive 5mph if I have to do so to make it home in one piece. Anyone that don't like it can follow me and STFU or pass me and I'll laugh at them a mile down the road as I pass them in the ditch.

Folks up here just buy a beater old truck to save their cars from Winter. Not only are they MUCH better in the snow/ice, but they save the toy cars from all of the salt we put on the roads.

So much this. Too many people are stupid about driving in bad conditions. Even my AWD rally rocket which is great when the weather is bad will slip on ice with winter tyres.

Especially folks who are going through their first or second Winter in a cold climate. Driving on snow and ice is an aquired skill. It takes practice, and a different level of "feel" for your vehicle. It doesn't matter how awesome of a driver you are in Arizona if you have zero experience driving with zero traction. Too fast is usually their first mistake. Just because you can get going doesn't mean you can stop or turn. You also have to keep your eyes further down the road, and have more situational awareness than would be needed during the Summer months.

I wasn't saying you put it there, just that there was a pic (of your Camaro?) on the side of the road with snow (drifted?) around it.

The idea of Z-rates tires, rear wheel drive, and nitrous boost on an icy Illinois boulevard is hilarious to me.

also, for the record, I have put a car into a snowbank. where I grew up that was just the cost of doing business.
