Yes, Yamaha, the company known for motorcycles and musical instruments, designed the early base for this engine for Volvo in 2005. It's now evident that not only prominent vehicle manufacturers can design a fine base engine.

Don't get me wrong if I was on the receiving end of the gift giving line I doubt there's anything in this thread I'd turn down.

mehhhh... the motus v4 is kinda interesting. But the jap bikes match or beat it on power. And their bikes have japanese styling with a ducati style trellis frame. So I wouldn't exactly consider them the best example. I would put anything Erik Buell made over them motus.
