I was of the opinion that it was wrong to bail them out regardless of the possibility of a profit. That was a moment in history when we were forced to ask ourselves if we believe in capitalism or not. We chose to not believe. A poorly run company, no matter how big, must be allowed to fail. If there's a demand for the product someone will meet that demand and need the labor to do it.

Except the poorly run company was forced to part with a shitty and ineffective management in order to get a a secured loan from the government.

In the end, it proved that like the S&L crisis, bailouts can work if done properly. The problem wasn't the product but how the company was ran.

The proof is in the pudding and unfettered capitalism aint all that.

Tell me more about how losing billions of dollars of other people's money is somehow proof that the government does a better jobo than the private sector.
