Thread: Neighbors are assholes

I'm in the mood to strangle someone (never said I don't have anger issues) because its getting really fucking tiring listening to the neighbors blaring car stereo reverbing through the entire fucking house (yes it is a small house but still). I go to my room in the back to get away from the loud fuck in the living room and I swear they turned it up so it's fucking as loud back here. Shit fucking jets fly over LANDING and TAKING OFF that are quieting then their fucking stereo.

Oh and its only been going on for at least 2+ hours now, I'd be tempted to call the cops but like fuck all Tempe police would do anything, plus the people are kids of neighbors that my parents (and to an extent I've kinda) known for awhile so god knows how that'd play out. Further problem as the kid(s) were busted by the cops (in a sting) a few months back for drugs, and wouldn't be shocked if the cops came out they'd get busted again (because they are obviously fucking morons). Which means hearing from the older next door neighbor and blah blah ugh.

At least ranting subsides some of the desire to smash up the car (and the costs of lawsuit plus criminal charges prevents the acting on smashing up the car wants).

When I have neighbors who are loud, I ask them nicely to turn it down. Generally people respond well and don't want to be dicks in my experience. If they are assholes, I just go call the cops on them. If they are compliant but the music comes back up, then I call the cops. Usually works out for me. Although noise ordinances here mean that they have to be making a lot of noise (a bumpin' car stereo usually falls into that range) for it to be legally valid between 6am and 10pm. At night people should not be able to hear your noise outside of your premises. States vary a bit, but those are pretty typical.

If they have the right type of sub, tell them the music will sound better if they put their phones and laptops near it.

If it's a one-off type of thing that happens rarely, I just ignore it. Everyone needs to blow off a little steam now and then. It's only when it becomes a recurring issue that I would even think about calling the cops.

I had a neighbor a number of years ago that would ride his dirtbike up and down the alley day in and day out. That one resulted in a cop call. Only time I've ever done that.

My neighbors can get pretty obnoxiously loud. They have 2 little kids that are constantly screaming, jumping around, and slamming into the walls. It's gets super annoying and I almost feel bad for the parents

Go nicely ask em to turn it down, if they say no call the cops. I think the max volume for day time is 60 or 70db, can't remember which. Sounds like they are way over it though
