    Re: WB ruins Batman...

I am not making a judgement on this yet. Ben Affleck has really matured and did well in Argo and The Town. I think he can pull off the part of Bruce Wayne, he just needs to really preform as Batman. I am not the biggest fan of Bale as Batman. I hated the over the top raspy voice. His supporting cast and what Nolan did really made Batman Begins and TDK so great. (Rises was alright but not in their league.)

I would have preferred a no name actor to give it a shot but hoping Affleck does it well. I have still yet to see any of the Batmans do a Hugh Jackman/Wolverine where you can't picture anyone else doing the role.
I never miss. I simply fire warning shots.

I never understood people's issues with Rises. I thought it was a great movie, that really drove home the purpose of the trilogy. I have to admit that even I was disappointed in the ending with Bane and all that, but for what the movie was and what it was about it really hit the point dead on. I would have preferred them to have made it into two movies to really flesh the story out more, but the speed didn't ruin it.

My issues with Ben however is the opposing side to your second thought. Ben is so far away from what I think about when I think Bruce and Batman, especially Batman(and he's the only one that matters). Will he ruin it? Idk, I've not seen it so I can't say, but it'll be 50/50 on whether he ruins it or he does a mediocre job. In no possible universe do I see Ben Affleck being the Batman we deserve, nor do I see him being the reason the movie is good. He's a good filmmaker, Argo was a great fantastic movie. However, his character could have been played by anyone. He did nothing in Argo or in The Town that some other guy could have done just as well. He does good things, not great things, and for the movie to be great you need great actors like the Avengers had. Every person cast in the Marvel movies have been dead on counterparts to their respective comics.

Batman begins was fantastic because it made the cheesey batman cool and badass.

Dk was awesome because it was batman in his prime.

Rise sucked because the story was weak and predictable, mostly shot in daylight batman outfits looked like shit . Plus the only great thing was catwomans ass on that bike.

The story wasn't any weaker or less predictable than TDK. They all had about the same amount of issues, I'd say the ending to TDK was as weak as Rises. The whole sonar bit was retarded beyond belief, 80% of the inmates would have, without question, pulled the trigger, and Dent didn't have nearly the screen time he should have to flesh out his story. People rave about how good Heath was as Joker(and it's well deserved), but Aaron was a dead on Dent and I wanted more.

Rises isn't bad, I just don't like it as much as Batman Begins and TDK. And I will give my reasons why. 1) The big surprises (Talia and Robin) were predictable. 2) The voices.. were almost laughable. Bane and Batman's voices were not good and drew you away from the movie. 3) The movie felt rushed. Bane only occupied Gotham for a short time but Batman was able to lay broken for a short while, then have a sling realign his back, and then workout to be back to normal. Batman is superhuman and that made him look like he was. 2 movies would have really helped. And the whole Batman playing out Alfred's fantasy at the end was kind of weird.

As for Ben, I agree I wish they had cast a no name as Batman. I would rather see someone play a big part that doesn't have a resume where you people will decide if the movie is good or bad before seeing it. You can call it blind optimism or just that I have eaten crow for making early judgements before. (I said Ledger would make a terrible Joker and Ruffalo would make an even worse Banner.) I just want to give the man a chance as he has had a bad rap for a very long time and his last 2 movies that I have seen were good. But that is in my opinion. (I also don't think Eric Bana was that bad of a Hulk nor Brandon Routh that bad of a Superman. I just think the writing and direction of the movies ruined them, but that is a different subject for a different time).
I never miss. I simply fire warning shots.

    Re: WB ruins Batman...

I too liked Eric Bana, its a damn shame the script was terrible.

Bale lost Batman at TDK, after about 5 mins of TDK I started disliking him. He was perfect in Begins. He was dark and strong sounding, but ruined it with cancer voice. He was still a good Bruce so it made up for it, but I wasn't as pleased with his Batman. But like I said, Kevin Conroy is the only one that does it well, and the new guy that's taking over for him in the new Arkham game. He sounds just like him it's amazing.

Tom Hardy on the other hand, I actually liked his portrayal of Bane. He was smart and sophisticated, and not just muscle. I agree it should have been two movies. They could have easily mirrored The Dark Knight Returns with the story they had in Rises. Had movie one about Bane the crime lord building his army and taking over Gotham and really showing his savagery, have it lead up to their iconic fight, and end the movie with his speech at the football stadium and the explosions in Gotham. Then flesh out Batman getting better and the rising up of the cops in the second one leading up to another badass fight with Bane. They should have used the line in TDKR when batman was talking to Alfred about losing to the Mutant Lord "I was trying to match his savagery." It would have been perfect.

The biggest issue I had with Rises was that Bane didn't feel like a threat because of the way the story ended up. They took Bane from being this savage brilliant tactician badass to a pawn. They kinda ruined the character with the story in the same way they ruined two face in TDK. Two Face could have had a movie on his own, or at least gave him half of one. He was in TDK for like 10 mins out of like 2 hours. But now I'm just ranting haha.

Funny story, I went to see Rises with my whole entire moms side of the family at an IMAX theater. If you seen movies in legit IMAX theaters you know the screen is like 5 storys tall and 7 storys wide. Anyways I'm sitting next to my brother and dad and the scene where Catwoman is about to blow up the barricade, then bends down into the take it in the ass postion on the Batpod, you could see almost every persons head in the theater turn to the left section of the IMAX screen where Catwoman's ass was...it was hilarious.

Also I think I've posted this in previous Batman threads, but this video shows what Bane's voice sounded like before they altered it because of the complaints that he couldn't be understood. I think the original voice was much better, but I have grown to like the current version too.

This should be labeled "How it should have ended" - way better than the real deal!
