I beg to differ having extensively had Scotches plain, splashed with water, and with an ice cube to melt. Different experiences that are each worthwhile.
And, lol at pussing out and going with a mixed Scotch. Mixing Scotch torpedoes the complexity and uniqueness that makes drinking Scotch such an experience. They aren't bad, but they aren't great. They're just a cheap way to try lots of Scotches at once without buying lots of individual bottles. If you really must have smooth, then go for the older Glennfiddiches starting with the 21 yr old.

As an ex-bartender I try to keep my order simple and to the point.

I am all over the fence according to that post.

My typical order with dinner is a glass of white zin or two.

My typical order when out for just drinks is a double shot of Buffalo Trace Bourbon. If not that I have two backups (Bulleit 95 Rye or Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey)

My pallet is one heavy tilted in the sweet direction......

Jack and coke all day everyday, Classy, sophisticated, and no one Ever judges Most are impressed. Or whiskey on the rocks. Thats all you need to know about ordering when out on a date with friends, coworkers, Clients, Martini is too much IMO. If you are at a place like the Copacabana Daiquiris and sangria nd anything else fruity and gay are just fine. Thats it in a nut shell instead of a 5 paragraph essay =P

We serve hard drinks in here for men who wanna get drunk, fast. And we don't need any characters around to give the joint 'atmosphere!'

I like to keep it simple, so I usually just go with, "I'll have what she's having."
