Re: But is it art?
At all of the "exhibits" posted thus far...regardless of my thoughts on them from a qualitative standpoint...yes they could (should/are?) be considered art.
To the first two; if you were to see the finished projects without ever knowing the manner of their creation most would be hard pressed to differentiate them from countless other creative works involving paint and canvas. That the methods of creation employed differ, greatly, from what many would argue is normal, and further through methods that most would argue are "strange" is very likely a further attempt at "art" by the creators of those works (i.e. performance art as someone previously mentioned). It truly matters not at all what method(s) is employed to create some work that generates thought and/or discussion and/or enjoyment (to some number no matter how few) provided there is no harm to other sentient beings (people, animals, etc).
At the second two: Yes of course for the same exact reason(s) that applies to the first two examples. These two simply aren't as tough on some people sensibilities as the first two. However, the finished product most certainly generates thought/discussion/enjoyment (possibly) in the audience ("us", or everyone viewing it).
And thanks for the link to the Armory. I always enjoy looking at the art crafted by skilled metal workers (even if they're not using iron in a nod to blacksmiths of old).

Re: But is it art?
It's because of text.
When Xav is accusing somone of being homosexual, it's performance art. He actually has "lil Xav" inside the male of A species at the time. Which species, no one can be sure. Suffice to say, the performance aspect doesn't come across as easy in a forum setting.
As we speak, Xav is "finishing" another post.

Re: But is it art?
Ick. Ick. Eww.
Damnit.
This is the image you want to present just before I have dinner?
Aside: That movie had an important message, and even though (in a weird way) I'm glad it got made I always felt like someone involved with the production should be prosecuted for crimes against pinball.
Now, can we please get back to things which may or may not be art?
Cheers,
