Excellent analysis Gonzo. Probably going to start out with a starter bike(2002 xr 250) to get going again. Give me something to ride and practice with. Once I determine that I will stick with it and get my tools, trailer, riding places established, keep my eyes peeled for the right deal with a used ktm 6 months to year from now.

that is a great starter bike, I would recommend a XR 400 instead, still tame, but the 250 is good as well.
the xr 400 isnt ANYTHING like a KX 450.

Have fun man.... and just a little bike porn to wrap up.

    Re: Anyone ride dirt bikes?

Thanks again man. I bought a 2003 XR250r today. I rode it, and it is just the right amount of bike to get back into things. I was happy with the feel of it, and the price was right. In a year or two, I may upgrade to something a bit more zippy.

I ordered my trailer as well, and the wheels should begin turning here shortly. The advice you provided was paramount in my decision to change course. I am thankful you took the time to put it all out there. I did not walk into this deal with a knot in my stomach, and I am very confident that my decision was a good one.
