Mark Cuban made some interesting observations about this. Too lazy to find the quote, but he said what Sterling said was stupid, and wrong, but said the NBA should be careful enforcing rules about what people think or say. It wasn't that long ago, last year or the year before, that multiple players used homophobic insults. With his track record Sterling got exactly what he deserves, but "slippery slope" and all.

The conversation was meant to be a private one - I'm sure we've all said things in the privacy of our home that would be offensive if spoken in public. However, from what I understand, Sterling had a history of making racist remarks in public and was even the subject a few discrimination lawsuits.

Re: Clippers ruling
Mine as well. I heard the Cuban quote on the news this morning. His point isn't completely without merit.
If the guy's a racist then that's terrible. But unless his business practices are discriminatory then I don't see how he's violating criminal or civil code.
If the majority of owners want him out then I suppose that's a business decision. It'd be nice if they kicked him out for being a racist, but it seems like they already knew it and they're only kicking him out because he got caught being a racist and thus was jeopardizing revenues.
Or maybe that's not it at all. Maybe there's some whole other thing going on. All I know for sure is that I don't care.

I mainly heard about it yesterday (the proposed boycott). I was curious. Then, I saw this today. To me, it stood out since I can't recall something like this happening in sports in the US in my lifetime. Given, I don't pay much attention to sports.
