Re: Donuts
White, you occasionally post something about programming and/or web applications. Why don't you make a Donut Directory?
[I'd prefer the term 'doughnut', but this is your application]
Chain donuts suck. There may have been a time when Dunkin' didn't suck, but that time has passed. I have never understood the Krsipy Kreme thing, except that when they're hot they're apparently less objectionable.
I like Tim Horton, and the legacy of Tim Horton, and the idea of Tim Horton's, but the donuts I've had there aren't particularly special.
I'm not even some big donut freak. This year I've had donuts once: February, in Pittsburgh. They weren't a chain, but they were only ok.
In the US I know of two good places. One in West Springfield, MA (Donut Dip, just off interstate 91); the other in Quincy, CA (Papa's Donuts, on route 70 heading east out of town).
There must be many more, but I don't know where they are. They love donuts. They honour the donut. They dedicate their lives to making our lives better and more donuty. They are crying out for the attention they deserve.
A geo-coded database of good donuts would help bring justice to the world.

Krispy Kremes were mentioned there since moving likes them. I ate them in Ruston if I felt like a donut and if it was early enough in the week for them to be fresh (blarrgghhhh...stale doouuuuuuuuuuuughnuts). I've generally not had any donuts in Dallas unless you stretch donuts to include the sticky buns from Celebrity Bakery. My parents don't know any since they're on a "eat the protein power bagel at Einstein's" phase.
As far as a list, things like Google Maps do list them, but it's hard to sort through the reviews and get a real picture when the reviews are legitimate reviews.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

Re: Donuts
Please ask your parents to carefully consider this phrase:
"Protein Bagel"
If they don't get it right away, ask them, "What would Einstein think?"
Arrrgh... yes. It's hard to sort though, reviews are hopelessly polluted, and 10 other things which add up to:
Google Sucks.
Google Maps will give you a list - which is almost completely worthless. It helps you get coffee if you like Starbucks. It helps you get donuts if you like Dunkin' or Krispy. It helps you get a hamburger if you like McDonalds.
When people say, "why don't you use Google Maps?" I say, "why don't you transport me back to 2007, when Google wasn't shit?"
I'm not asking you to built the "Wonder Toroid Of Fructose And Fat" app. Google already made that.
