The primary issue it sounds like is that they are making the install/activation prohibitively expensive (500 dollars install and 500 activation). 6-8 weeks lead time for the install. And you have to be within 1/3 mile of their fiber loop.

Soooooo... Probably not available to me anyway. But interesting for sure.

If you're worried about getting line down, I think Ranger went down that route a while back since he works out of his house, and that's not an Eve joke. I mean, he at least used to play Eve. I guess you could say he works two jobs at home.

And? That's pretty damn cheap. We're spending 2500/mo for a gigabit line at work. 300/mo isn't bad. The 1000 dollars for setup/activation is stupid though.

I thought about the $500/$500 you quoted. If they're doing individual fibre drops then the hefty up-front fee is probably because they can't hook up lots of new subscribers fast, and so they might as well collect some big checks while letting those who really want it identify themselves.

I think that's why Ranger's install was expensive. No one really around him (and the closest fiber was far away and it was a business line). Maybe see if the price would drop if others were installing and then let the neighbors touch your exotic monkey to convince them to sign on.
