Thread: How to know you might be getting fired.

After 3 surgeries and an over whelming amount of beat the hell up pain i decided to take a job away from installing. So im currently a field supervisor for a decent size flooring company. I have 2 people that could be considered a "boss" one being the owner. The other is the lead field super.

Today i go look at a job for a ceramic crew that are the leads babies and we argue about why the issues are their fault. Then i get a text to fix some of their shit after i made it abundantly clear with the owner im not here to install im taking a break. So irritating but i let it slide for the night.

Then i get another text in a group message saying we need someone to walk the job for punch items and fix them seeing as its the last day at a disney job. Once again i get volunteered so i respond i believe they are referring to someone from the crew being there so they can actually fix it while they're there. Then disney responds yes thats what we mean.

So my phone that blows up every 5 minutes has been quiet for the last 2 hours since i sent the following message. "I understand punch lists need to be done but they are to be done by the crew that did the work not field supervisors. I took a massive pay cut to come do this job i'll be it so i could give my body a chance to heal but when im fixing other peoples issues i make 6 figures and can go back to that tomorrow if needed."

So tomorrow morning should be fairly interesting and possibly end with my eating lunch at universal studios.

OK say your doing a job and the company you're doing the work has the owner watching what you're doing. Then you and your entire crew leaves for 3 hours. I get phone calls at 1030 at night getting my ass bitched at by everyone from the owner to the project manager. They're left with instructions to be there at 7 am and im asked to be there.

I get there at 7 am. At 705 i send out a text asking the installer where he is, it goes unanswered. I call at 715 and the installer tells me he's 30 minutes out. I have the owner and the sites main super standing in front of me. I send a text to the lead super for our company and the project manager that was chewing my ass out last night saying " They aren't going to be onsite for work until at least 745". They actually arrive at 830.

I get a text from the lead super cussing me out for throwing the crew under a bus. I respond with they threw themselves under a bus when they left last night and when they were late this morning. He then tells me were gonna have to talk and i respond in text you're right we will and im bringing the owner in for it along with as many project managers as needed to get the point you suck at your job. We're here to protect the company not your buddies that you have installing for you. Once again my phone has remained silent since yesterday at noon.

I dont know. Maybe im wrong but at this point i thinks its gonna have to be him or me because i cant work in such a disfunctional environment. This is why i liked working by myself.

If you were not hired by the owner to come in kick ass and take names then you should start job hunting immediately.

You days are numbered regardless if they decide to fire you or not as you will never like the work environment or people and end up leaving anyway.

Save yourself the grief and move on.
