    XBox 360...Convince me

Alright all you XBox owners/users that think your unit is superior to the vast awesomeness of PC gaming (and even those who use it and don't think that way), now's the time to convince me to get one. This is NOT a PC vs XBox thread, in my mind, the debate is closed. However, I consider myself an avid gamer, and no form of entertainment is beyond me, and as I've mentioned in other threads, I've been toying with getting an XBox for sometime. I'm informed on the unit, but I surely do not know everything on it (some stellar titles, nuances of online play, etc)

So, let's get started. My first problem, games to play. I have a great gaming PC, so currently there is no PC title out of reach for me, and it feels nice. With that said, many great titles are released on PC alone, or on PC and XBox. With that choice, the decision is easily to go to PC. Can anyone provide some Xbox/console exclusive titles that are worth a go on the XBox, as the thing that stopped me in my tracks when I went to buy one in Sept was the game wall. I couldn't figure what I'd want to play. If the game you suggest has been out a while and can be bought cheap, all the better.

Next, online service. First of all, what's the difference between silver and gold? Silver is free right? Gold is between 30-60 a year, depending on where you buy it. Paying for online service is stupid regardless, but I'd like to know the difference and the benefits.

DLC. How prevalent is it in games, and how often do you pay for it? I know games like TF2 got shafted in comparison to their PC brothers, but other examples I do not have. Am I going to have to pay for patches or maps for broken games?!

Rumors. Is anyone aware of a newer model unit of 360 coming down the pipe, something that would warrant a wait on my purchase to get something fancy? In addition, has MS confirmed it's shelf life? I'd be furious to get the 360 just in time for the 720's press release.

Other fancy crap. What else does the Xbox do besides game? I know of netflix, and I'm sure it plays movies, but what other stuff is there.

Any other filler you deem fitting to convince would be nice too.

As I write this, I begin to slink back into my 'I don't need it' mindset, and it lasts for a little while, then I'm like 'Why not?' I truly don't know what to think on the matter, as I have had fun on a 360, no doubts there, but of course, I didn't pay 100s for the setup I was on, I was just using other people's stuff.

    Opinions away!

PS: As I mentioned above, this isn't PC v 360, but you can obviously reference the two in comparisons. Moreover, this isn't a PS3 v 360 thread, as I currently regard the PS3 as a toprunner for my eventual Blu-Ray player, nothing more.

Well if you have a couple hundred bucks you aren't using its a pretty good system but you would be better off buying a PS3. Least thats my opinion after owning both for a while.

Xbox is better, because you don't have to worry about requirements.

I'll respond to this properly later, but for now, I'll just state that if you're going to buy a console, personally I feel a PS3 is a better bet.

Silver is free, and with silver you won't be able to play online with friends. Gold is $8.99/month US. You can pay per-month or you can buy a three month time card or a twelve month time card. The twelve month time card is $59.99 US and it comes with one additional month so it's technically thirteen months of Gold.

I've yet to see fee based patch. A patch is normally a fix, so it's free.

We have a few years yet before we see a next-next-gen console, no worries there.

lol Target, you'll have an uphill battle there. I plan to adopt BluRay very slowly, and MGS4 is the only game I want on PS3 (I heard good things about Resistance too..).

I dont know why I've got the nagging inclination to get one. There are some games I'd like to play through on it, but I don't know of many MUST PLAY XBox 360 games. That's part of my hurdle.

Well, I don't personally own a 360 but most of my friends do (yeah, I'm the black sheep who plays only PC and PS3), so I know what it can and can't do.

It's a great system and all. But the only real exclusives for Xbox worth playing are Halo and Gears of War. And they're not even exclusives, for that matter. Within a couple of years after Halo was released, the variant for PC was also released - we have Halo, Halo 2 Vista, and I'm sure we'll be seeing Halo 3 on PC sometime or another. It can only make Microsoft more money, so why would they not do it? Gears of War is also on PC in the same manner as Halo.

As for any cross platform games that include PC, the PC version is almost always better if it's FPS - better graphics, better gameplay, and, of course, modding. Plus free DLC.

If you really want a console, get a PS3 - it has a BluRay player, free online network, and the cross platform games for PS3 and Xbox are virtually identical. I've seen examples where 360 has better lighting while PS3 has better textures or vice versa, but it really makes little difference. Plus the PS3 exclusives, in my opinion, are better, and will definitely not be ported to PC. So you'd be missing more if you don't have PS3.

Or just blow a few hundred more bucks and get both consoles, that way you know you aren't missing anything. Who needs a Wii anyway?
