been away for awhile...watched the video and thats insane....and maybe I just suck with a hunter, but cant really steer him through the air like that. Rapage with hunters like that dosnt happen on the xbox...and if it did...wouldnt of posted anything. Would my suggestion be retarded for the PC...obviously, but I still think it would be alright on the xbox. After thinking about it alot and changing tactics with the smoker...I withdraw the idea for him.

It's not you - it just seems like the xbox doesn't give you as much control mid-air that the PC gives you. I've tried un crouching and all that, it just doesn't seem to give you the same freedom of movement mid-air. I also feel like the hitbox is smaller on the xbox but this can come back to the issue of control.

Also, I have to give you a lot of credit for backing down on a debate, most people on these forums will argue to death that they're right and it's a breathe of fresh air (not that I'm any better) to see someone mature enough to do this.

Thanks, the smoker issue was more of an aggrevation then anything..I know you know what im talking about, Its just u and zoey all alone in a coner, 1 hitpoint away from an incap then poof, somebody saves her, and they find that health pack that always seems to be there to undue all your alone time. And while Id still like to see the "instant" incap for the hunter on the box, it basically always boils down to a lack of team work. And the hit box is smaller, ive landed at peoples feet before, staring down the barrel of a ".45".

first of all - it's possible to release the tongue and to release a guy that you've pounced. It's even possible to crawl in left 4 dead when you're incapped. It's all in the CVAR list, you just have to enable it. I'm not going to reply to the other stuff, but the instant incap is a bad idea and don't even try to apply logic to a zombie game ...

play the game on xbox and youll see a night and day difference. Couldnt figure out what the hell people were talking about till I watched that Video, the average pounces ive seen are 10 or less on the box.

I wouldn't say 10 dmg should be an average pounce damage, my friends and I get 25's on a regular basis - it's just It seems to me (through observation) that there's not the same degree of freedom/movement so we're prohibited to using very boring, linear pounces.

Unless you're refering to 10 dmg being the average pubbers pounce, then yeah. thats about right.

Yea I ment the average pounces done during a game, We usually play in the public lobbies, the few clan matches we played I dont really remember too many high damage pounces, its was mostly fire hunter damange that was happening. I would have to say though if 25s do happen alot on the box and im just not seeing it, then yea..instant incap would suck, I just havnt seen them personally, and i play alooooot of L4D

The problem with this is that Valve would need to make L4D for xbox and PC different and that would make extra trouble for them, which is never going to happen.

Play more Dead Air! xD 25s all over the place, even if they're just lame straight pounces that even pubbers can't miss (ladders and ledge pull revives for example). Not to mention the fact that people always pick bad corners to sit in after getting boomed, giving you free high pounces.

    Sorry... argument trumped

The reason hunter pounces only go up to 25 is so that winning with the infected requies coordination rather than just blind luck. Would smokers and boomers really be necessary if two hunters pouncing after one another killed someone?

In the end, it would no longer require strategy, skill, or teamwork. It would only turn into a game of blind rushing.

And as for the smoker problem, the point of the infected is to *Key word* coordinate. If a smoker could detach his tongue, a team of idiots could be killed by a single infected. The hunters and boomers need to attack with the smoker to succeed. And imagine the following scenario...

No mercy 3: The surviviors have activated the lift, and are running across the roof. suddenly, the smoker snags one down, detaches his tongue, and snags another. then, two hunters pounce on the guys on the roof.

and *Poof* just like that, the team on the roof has no chance to win, and are dead. Did they lack skill? No, they were just cheaped out.
Unfortunately your scenario is quite meaningless as the smoker has a rechage period after successfully smoking/pulling/tongueing someone. So there's no possible way for him to pull two survivors off the roof (considering that the team has any sort of urgency).

I agree about the hunters, a 25 damage point limit is good enough as a nice, fat bonus to your attack as the damage from hunters isn't supposed to come from the pounce. Teamwork or punishing a stray survivor is the key.
