Why I stay strapped...

I was recently talking to a friend on local gun laws in the states. We started to talk about stories we were involved in or heard about times when we were lucky to be armed. I do have my CCW for concealed carry, but Arizona is an open carry state, meaning you can carry your firearm in a holster without a permit. Some people look at me crazy, bu thats just a lack of edumacation.
I have been a few hairy situations in my life, including being held at gunpoint, and I vow to never let myself be that vulnerable again.

    Story #1

My wife, my child (1yr old at the time), and I were coming back from a buddies house one night. It was pretty late, probably close to 1:00AM. Both my wife and the little one were asleep. I pull up to this light and to my left a very large lifted Ford truck pulled up next to me. I use to have a lifted Chevy, so I naturally look over to check it out. As I do, the guy in the passenger side seat looks over at me and in a roid monkey voice he's all, "WHAT!??! You got something to look at bo?!" It caught me off gaurd so I chuckled a little. I guess his drunk ass took that as a reason to get burly and before I know it 4 guys jumped out of the truck, all with there shirts off, and all of them look like they just got back from working out for 20 years straight. These guys were straight ripped. My girlfriend wakes up and the first word out of her mouth is "WTF?" It was pretty clear that they wanted to drag me out of my car for their own amusement. Before they got to my window I pulled out my .45 Ruger I had at the time and slammed it on the dashboard so they could celarly see it. They stopped in their tracks and then one guy was trying to tell me, "Hey, it's cool man, it's cool.." I told him it wasn't cool and you don't **** with a guy with his family. I'll protect them no matter what.

Story #2 (Not a gun related story, but kind of scary)

At all costs I would recommend and try to avoid confrontations with people these days. There are too many crazy fuckers out there and odds are you will come across a few.

Same scenario, my sister and her husband are driving home pretty late from a party way out in BFE (butt f*kn egypt). They are driving down a pretty desolate area near some farm houses and corn fields. They stopped at a light and all of a sudden on my sister's side (passenger side) the door was flung open by somebody outside the car. Much to their dismay a Mexican girl jumps on my sisters lap and tries to close the door behind her, while screaming, "Just drive! Please just drive away now! Please drive!!" My brother in law is yelling WTF is wrong and they realize she is covered in blood! There is blood on her face and all over her clothes, I mean f*cking EVERYWHERE! My sister starts screaming for her to get the f*ck off of her and starts pushing her out. The Mexican girl is screaming back and crying while blood is getting all over my sis and all over the inside of the car. Before they know it 3-4 cop cars surround them and they all draw their guns telling them all to get on the ground.

After all the drama they find out from the police that the crazy Mexican girl just killed two other men with a kitchen knife in a nearby abandoned house. One of the men was able to call the cops, but not soon enough before his own life was taken. They also found out later on the news that she murdered those guys for a gang initiation. <--What a P.O.S. I've never seen my sister so shaken up that night. She was so disgusted with all the blood that was all over her clothes and it was a chilly sight to see it smeared everywhere in the car.

An armed person is a citizen, an unarmed one is a subject. I have my concealed carry class scheduled and I am about to get my first pistol. Probably a Springfield XD .45.

When I get home I'll post my story on being held at gunpoint. Scary as hell, but opened my eyes a bit.

    Re: Why I stay strapped...

I was at the ATM one night around 11pm in a fairly shady part of town. It was the drive up kind so I was in my truck. I old yellow chevy pulled up just outside of the bank parking lot and a guy got out. The truck pulled away and the passenger started walking towards my truck with his right hand in his jacket pocket, "excuse me sir". I told him I was taking care of bank business and do not come closer. "I just need to ask you a question" he said as he was now about 20 yards from my truck. I picked up my pistol and aimed it right at him and told him if he walked any closer I was going to kill him. He then turned and walked back to the road and his buddy picked him up and they drove off. I have no idea if had a knife, gun or nothing. All I know is I was scared shitless that I was about to get robbed or killed. If I had not have had a gun I was close to just driving off. I had already hit the cancel button on the ATM to protect my money.

I carry a good bit of the time but not always.

    Nuck

Once I get all settled and graduated from high school and college I plan on packing. I'm not gonna be that guy who you hear about on the morning news who was murdered, folded in half, raped, murdered, shot, hung, raped, folded in half, put in a garbage bag, raped, drowned, and half-burried in somone's flower bed the night before. Not gonna be me.

Sadly, I live in a state where the Chicago Democrats overpower virtually the entire rest of the state's opinion. So there is no carrying allowed here at all without a tan card. They really do believe that old wife's tale that banning guns will keep them out of the hands of criminal. *shakes head*

See, the problem with passing laws restricting weapons in the interests of public safely is that criminals... don't obey the law. It's kind of a prerequisite for being a criminal. So all you're doing is taking away the defenses from the people who might actually need them... what a wonderful system.

    Re: Why I stay strapped...

Well, I have been held up at gunpoint. When I was in highschool working fast food I was waiting in the parking lot with a buddy who didn't have a car and was waiting on his ride. I was sitting in my truck he was standing next to my door. This guy walks up and pulls out a large revolver. He says "yall got ne muney" he looked strung out and sounded it too. We told him we worked for minimum wage and didn't have any money. Which I was scared shitless cause I had about three hundred bucks cause prom was the next week. Fortunately I put that money in my moneyclip in my front pocket so I pulled out my wallet and showed the guy I didn't have any cash. After a couple minutes(felt like an eternity) he left. My buddy hopped in the truck and we went across the highway, we saw his ride so he hopped in with them and left. I went to Denny's and called the cops, I didn't have a cell phone at the time. The cops showed up 30-40 minutes later. They wanted to go back over to my work so I could show them where the guy came from and where he went when he left. As we started over there we got stopped at a red light one cop in front of me the other car behind me. The first takes off down the road, the second backs up and flies around me. I could see them down the street with there spotlights on. Not wanting to get in the way I pulled into a 24 hour whataburger. There happened to be an off duty cop there, I told him my story and he said there had just been a shooting down the street. He called the other guys and told them where I was at. A little while later a detective shows up and says there was a robbery and the guy that got robbed was dead. They believed it to be the same guy so I had to go downtown and make a statement and all that. I got home really late my mother was terrified and I realized how easily that could have been me.
