One of mine did too Target! I thought ppl that said that were lying, but it was a hot summer and I'd overclocked this puter for a LONG TIME. I also hadn't gotten a new PSU since I built my first computer.
Anyway, the voltage regulator went up in a flame about twice the size of a lighter on high. Luckily it was really hot and I had my case off. My brother says "Hey, your computer is on fire." We were lanning Quake 3 and I couldn't figure out why my screen frozeGaming, it's wuts for dinner :P

Only recently did I learn the virtues of building my own computer, and never again will I buy one from retail. For roughly the price of a mediocre desktop I can build a decently formidable gaming machine. Best of all, it comes with no crapware. I hate crapware, it gave me problems even when I reformatted the damn thing.

That is the distinct advantage. I've noticed with quality parts that my puter is SIGNIFICANTLY faster than a similarly specified OEM. Oh, and the crapware thing as well. You hit it right on the head.
Another advantage is that you can pick and choose based on budget. For instance, do you want to skimp on the motherboard so you can afford more ram? This can add value to your system by making smart choices.
I was hooked on building computer when I built my first. Back then you could buy parts for less than half of what a retail outlet was selling them for. In addition, quality parts and smart choices made it faster than anything available at the time.Gaming, it's wuts for dinner :P

The pricing thing is a pretty big point but a even bigger one is the fact that you can choose the parts to put in your PC. Man o' man, those cheap Foxconns in OEM's v.s. Asus or Gigabyte... No chance. All the stuff they put in OEM computers they put there so they can get more money, all the stuff you put in a custom computer you put in there for reliability and performance.
