Old man Harley Riders talk shit about your motorcycle......

Had a conversation with a guy about my bike this morning - a Harley rider at the office this morning....sigh.

"How d'you like that little thing?

    Fine thanks

"I have a Harley softail - it's a lot bigger, I sold my bike like yours after 6 weeks, it shook to much"

Oh, I like mine just fine.

"Yeah I had to get something bigger for the freeway, can't take any trips on that thing" "Where do you live?"

    ************The City.

"Yeah, it's fine around town, but if you ever get out on the highway you'll want a bigger bike like mine"

Really, I ride mine on the highway all the time - I rode on the highway this morning.

"My son has a bigger bike, it's one out of 100 because of it's special paint job - it's a Harley special, it's a fatboy."

    Nice

"Yeah - we take trips on the highway all the time, we've got windshields"

    OK, cool.

"I got trade in value for mine when I got my larger bike--------------- alkgjhadslkvnaksnvlkasnvkasdvk ............."

You should have asked him if he carried tools on his road trips to keep those beasts running. I know HD's are much better today than they use to be but they are still not as reliable as any of the bikes made in Japan.

    What are you riding SJT?

It's also a harley - but one not of quite the prowess of his apparrently.

You're right about the tools however - got back from a ride the other night, and was like - "man, my handlebars are lose", had to get off and tighten 'em up........

I just kinda hate the Harley community, the shirt, the BS, the sturgis shit, now I'm going to have to buy a BMW or Triumph.....

Just from what I know the BMW bikes are suppose to be the best built bikes on the road. But what do I know lol.

I love seeing the guys on the weekend in all their Harley gear looking like true gangsters and then on Monday they are back in their dress pants and button downs talking all proper like. There are even fake leather wrapped pony tails out there for that ultimate accessory.

    Or the tassles........sigh.

I got it because I wanted my first bike to be like a "real" bike - and I like it, it's just that if you wear safety gear, ride at times other than the weekend, and don't care about loud pipes, then you don't fit in.

    Are you a biker Nuck?

You work is going to be watching you that is if they monitor web activity. They will see you as a disgruntled employee that plays way to many FPS games that is ready to take it to the next level.
    LOL jk

I am sure that punk was told the same thing to him once and now he is trying to rub it off on you. Just remember who did you buy the bike for you or him? :9

Have you ever noticed how Harley riders and Mac users are totally interchangeable? Both rabid about their products, both are totally sucked in to their respective cults.

They used to give me crap about riding a Nighthawk 750. One guy was giving me crap in Georgia when I was riding from North Carolina to Houston. "What, you can't afford a real bike?"

Oh, I can afford the Harley, I can't afford the Harley leathers, the Harley cigarettes, the Harley tattoos, the Harley T-shirts, the Harley cologne, the Harley wallet, etc, etc, etc..... Besides dude, I am RIDING my bike, why is yours in the back of that truck ? ? ?

Yeah.... he glared at me as I walked out to continue my ride back to Houston

    Laggy

    heh.

My buddy Beknatok (he lurks here on TTP occasionally) has a Kawasaki Vulcan 800 Classic, shown in the linked picture. Frankly, it looks and sounds just as good, if not better, than any Harley I've seen.

I don't ride right now, but I've had the urge to learn a few times. Only thing slowing me down is money and time, but it's on my shortlist of things to do.

No I am not a biker. I grew up on dirt bikes and racing ATV's. I have also been behind the bars of many performance bikes and cruisers. I do not own one and will probably never own one. My wife views them as death machines and would probably leave me if I bought one.

Gear is important, it drives me nuts to see people ride bikes without it. When I was riding ATV's and dirt bikes I always had on all the gear; gloves, helmet, goggles, jersey, pants, chest protector and boots. I do not know how many times I have gone down but never broke a bone or had a cut that required stitches.
