    TTP and advertising

to answer some questions we see now and then, figured it was time to make an article.

    http://www.texasteamplayers.com/index.php?page=96
    FOR THE READERS:

As you have probably noticed, the website has blocks on the left and right side of the page, visible when you are anywhere on the site. They are ad blocks, responsive to what content you are reading. If it's about CPU's, maybe you'll see a CPU ad. If it's about music, maybe you'll see an ad about that. Also, some ads will be persistent, since specific advertisers choose to advertise: hardware retailers, game tournaments, file hosts, game companies, all sorts of stuff.

We don't control directly what does and does not show up. That's up to the ad network, and the advertiser's choice of keywords, or their willingness to specifically bid to advertise on texasteamplayers.com. If you see some ads that are absolutely inappropriate, such as blatant cheating site advertisements, direct competitor ads, and other things you think may threaten life at TTP, by all means, report it to a moderator, and they will help get it blocked.

Why does TTP have ads? One reason.....because we can. And that's because not meaning we want to....but simply due to the fact we have hundreds of thousands of hits a month, tens of thousands a day, and an ever increasing unique usership. The ads generate revenue that we require to keep our current games running, and running well, as well as invest in new capacity for upcoming games. Game servers are expensive. Web servers are expensive. Managed hosting, technical support, bandwidth and hardware...it all adds up to $1000's a month, and steadily increasing. If TTP can reduce the burden on our donors (since our reservist payments alone aren't enough to cover server costs), then we owe it to those working hard to keep TTP staffed and maintained to investigate means in which to reduce financial burdens on everyone.

Having ads does that. If we were small time, we'd be making pennies a day. But we're not small time. We're major, and still growing strong since 2005.

If you see an ad that seems interesting....something related to your favorite game, a new game, peripheral, toy, or even some random ad coming out of who knows where... feel free to check it out. Every click you make (for the click based ads) generates revenue, which TTP can use to buy game servers, increase server slot capacity, and invest in new games. If you're not a clicker, that's fine with us. Just being here, reading the website, draws revenue as well, since some ads are based on display numbers, and not on clicks.

Please, do NOT spam clicks on random ads, since ad networks are heavily monitored and have strict Terms of Service prohibiting click spamming (they're not stupid). But, please don't just ignore the ads. They're there, so your donation doesn't have to be.

If it looks cool....click it. Ad networks track who clicks what, and will adjust the ads we see based on those clicks. Clicks on cool stuff means we get more ads for more cool stuff. So, help out when you can.

    FOR THE ADVERTISERS:
Texas ...TeamPlayers... is an online multiplayer gaming community that began with Counter-Strike: Source, and has evolved into hosting any game worth playing as a coordinated and disciplined team, ignoring gender, age, experience, and clan-tag boundaries. This is what keeps TTP alive, and strong. People live here, play here....they love this place.

Our average unique user views 25-30 pages a day, spending an average of 12 minutes on the site, per visit, with more than 50% spending greater than 5 minutes per visit. 90% of our users return daily. We maintain a low bounce rate, because users have stuff to do here: look at game server monitors, keep in touch with their friends and resident clan mates (we host dozens of clans), communicate with regular players, reservist members, and fellow admins. Our demographic represents the typical 18-40 year old male PC-gamer, however many do fall outside this demographic. We have many women gamers, as well as young adults. If you're a retailer interested in getting the attention of true, hardcore PC-enthusiasts, gamers, social networkers, and young people, TTP is a place to put ads.

If you are part of Google Adwords, simply add texasteamplayers.com to your advertising campaign. If you are an ad network, or would like to discuss terms of your advertising campaign with us, please email us at texasteamplayers@yahoo.com.

I'd assume it's a cumulative list of all the weapons in the game.
