It annoys me as well. The title ISN'T Left for Dead. It's Left 4 Dead.
It's like saying "CALL NOO!" (Call 911...)

I say Left for Dead when I'm not thinking, and I have a problem with trying to type coherently and not sound like a 13 year old texting, so using short hand text speak annoys me, hence putting for not 4.

I call it Left4Dead. That's the name of the game. But does it really matter?. -_-;

Although, I made a bracelet for it & had no number beads, so I was forced to put "for". x[ It bothers me.
