all the good writers in the world have fallen off the face of the planet. look at American blockbuster movies. kinda makes me want to vomit at times. other times I realize that I am allergic to hot tamales and shouldn't buy them at the snack bar.

It's not that the good writers have fallen off the face of the planet.

It's just that all the bad writers have become famous despite producing crap. This country wants crap apparently; it's what sells. Look at box office returns.

A few great modern screenwriters (and directors) I can think of off the top of my head are Michael Mann, the Coen Brothers, Paul Thomas Anderson, and Charlie Kaufman. There are many more.

thats because oldy movies had to rely on a good plot to captivate the audience, now movies just rely on cg and blood to bring the audience in
