your team is either too aggressive or not aggressive enough.

Im sure this is true in most games, but Im coming from TF2.

If the cap point is 20 feet in front of you and covered by a sentry, stickies, and many enemies don't be greedy and try to take the point to only die within 1 second of approaching it! Sit back with a medic and try to take down the sentry, shoot the sticky grenades off the point, or make a few kills before you approach.

Conversely, when the point is completely open don't be such a fucking pussy to not go capture it because "you never know if somebody will come".

It all comes with game experience I guess.

In fact this same problem arises in CSS with bomb planting and defusing, feel my pain?

Yes, the most common misconception with dying in an online game is most people believe they will actually die in RL. :5

I highly doubt that. It's more likely that they don't want die because they don't want to sit out of the game while waiting to respawn.

Also, in most games "death" is equated to "your a loser". Whereas in games like TF2, taking one for the team in order to win the point / game is a good thing

Hell, it's a good thing in CS as well. I've died many times at the front of a rush that succeeded. Basically people need to stop obsessing over Ks and stats. Just keep encouraging and promoting teamplay by example, and make people understand that sometimes that requires sacrifice. Gotta jump on a grenade every now and then..

Iunno if you preach what you say Spaz, you've got some seriously long alive times in your stats.

Jello, See part 1 of my complaint : Team is too aggressive and dies unnecessarily. Spaz is just a smart player and knows when to push and when to retreat.

Edit: Also. It's 'practice what you preach'. And once again, someone complains about spaz who has hardly any time on the server. Everyone who plays with spaz knows that he is so effective at leading a team because he leads by example.

The longest life EVER stat is not indicative of the typical situation. Average would be more of an indication of what you were going for there Jello.

Since you brought it up I'll be glad to address it though. My longest life for each class is fairly long. It's not because I'm hiding somewhere in a corner worrying over my K ratio. It's because I'm working with my team and relying on them for support. My play is very aggressive yet patient when I need to be.

There is no sense in running to your death alone every single time you spawn. I've really tried to hit this one home with people on the server. Capturing points is a constant tug of war. Two or three guys will go in and capture and then when they die the other team does the same. This process continues until one team gets smart and mobilizes their entire offense at the same time. If you have 9 guys on offense why send 3 guys in at a time?

If I considered my K to be much more than a joke, I'd have given up on CS by now. These are team games, you know. I can have a .40 K and still be contributing towards a win. It's not all those terrorists you killed that really matter, it's the one jackass who slipped past you and planted the bomb. It's the sneaky bastard who rescued the hostages right under your nose because you were too focused on his buddies. You don't get those guys, you LOSE. Killed lots of people? Well, then you're just a loser with a high K. The guy who got past you? He's a winner, even if he hasn't managed a single kill all night.

Kills don't really matter. Bombs matter. Hostages matter. Capture points matter. The intel matters. If you aren't worrying about the things that matter, you're doing it wrong.
