Re: Houston..to live..or not to live
Ah, good ole Houston. If you want to live in a good side of town, hit up the ole Spring Branch. It used to be the suburb of Houston a while back in the 60's-70's.. Then Katy, Spring, Cy Fair, and the other areas took the suburb name. It's a nice place, right there at I-10 and Beltway 8 on the N-NW side.. Thats where a lot of us grew up around and/or still have a family residence at.
My other suggestion would be Cy-Fair area. Great place. But Spring Branch is just a no brainer to me... It's not way outside of the loop, but yet its not too far into the city at the same time.
Just my $0.02

If you don't mind living in an armpit move to Houston. You will spend that extra 10K a year on clothes because you have to take an extra set or 2 everywhere you go 9 months out of the year since you sweat through the first set just walking to your car.
I have been through Houstin several times going to Galveston, and have visited friends there often. The humidity is so high it takes a Ginsu to cut the air.
I persoanlly wouldn't live in Dallas either. Fort Worth for the win, and Austin for the runner up.

Re: Houston..to live..or not to live
ah, pussy.
I was born in Houston and lived there for a little bit of my childhood, then moved to Canada for 3 years... and then moved right back into Houston for the remainder of my childhood, teens, and now adulthood. Wouldn't spend it no place else.
Plus, I don't think Rock would mind the humidity nor the heat. He lived right by NOLA for Christ's sake, thats pretty much on the water... nothing but humidity. I'm also pretty sure it gets pretty hot over there too.
BTW, don't live in Austin... roads are terrible, housing and apartments are ridiculously expensive, people can't drive (or what i have experienced), and a lot of the people are snobby and rude. But i will give it to Austin that it is a fun night town. 6th street is a blast. But Houston can be just as good. More shit to do.
