Charter Erases 14,000 Customer E-mail Accounts

St. Louis (MO) - Charter Communications has blamed a "software error" on completely deleting the contents of 14,000 of its customer e-mail accounts.

During routine maintenance, Charter "erroneously deleted active accounts along with the others," according to spokesperson Anita Lamont.

The company said there is no way to restore the lost e-mails. "We really are sincerely sorry for having had this happen and do apologize to all those folks who were affected by the error," said Lamont.

Charter provides cable TV, Internet, and digital phone service in 29 states and has a total of around 2.6 million broadband subscribers. The service provider said it will give a $50 credit to all affected customers.

but hey.... $50 credit SURELY makes up for all the data they can't get back, including, but not limited to passwords in emails, account activation codes, pictures, etc.

And they don't have ANY backup policy/procedures already in effect? I bet they do by Monday.......

at least there was a professional response in the way of an apology and an attempt at reconciliation with a $50 dollar credit. All we got was homer Simpson and a joke.

I used to save my emails like crazy, but it became such a burden that I decide the HELL with that, so now I keep like one or two days worth of emails in my entire account.

If it turns out I need an email to prove my innocence, I'm sure an attorney can always subpeona Time warner for my records, right.

i actually live in that area (when i'm not at school) and 'enjoy' the 'reliable' 'services' of charter communications...

good thing i didn't have their email as well...

now if google erroneously deletes 15k email accounts...

whilst on the second map of the sacrifice (i cant remember if it was L4D 1 or 2) in the area with the large cooling tower i found a jimmy gibbs junior zombie.i tried killing him but couldnt and had catch up to my team in versus.
i have'nt seen him since anyone else seen him?

i am sure it was on left 4 dead 2

Jimmy Gibbs Junior spawns in the Atrium level of Dead Center, but he only has a 5% chance of spawning. He's alot stronger then the average infected which is why you probably couldn't kill him fast.

I've never encountered him on The Sacrifice, perhaps it's another of Valve's sorceries.

If I know my cards correctly, the Sacrifice is coded to be able to spawn all Uncommons.

Can it really spawn all of them? I know that the workers and the CEDA agents spawn in appropriate places, but I never saw a mudman, a clown, a fallen survivor, a riot cop, or jimmy gibbs. That would pretty sweet if he really did appear in TS.
