    Hi-Fi audio

So, that other thread about Guitar amps got me thinking... how many other people on TTP have spent far too much on their audio setup? Personally, I use my computer for basically everything in the way of A/V entertainment, so I've built a decent headphone setup: Some Grado SR60 and Sennheiser HD555 headphones, driven by the Leckerton Audio UHA-3 (which is a combo portable headphone amplifier and USB audio DAC).

I'll probably have something to post here in a few months. Looking into a decent recording setup.

$100 on some used Bose bookshelf speakers, one free Marantz receiver from early 70's (all tube), and one free panasonic turn table.

That's about as hi-fi as I wanna get barring new speakers and some nice speaker wire. It does me fine for now. The glory that is vinyl, and tubes still hasn't faded! Aside from that I just use a decent boom box for the largish CD collection, and if I must sully music by compressing it there's an iPod for portability.

Thats some nice head gear you got there Iron. Anything Sennheiser is good in my book. And wow, you have a amp! That is a great idea. I should try that... Ive got horrible interference in my headphones... Its a Laptop problem. I use Sony's MDR-7506 Professional studio Monitors(headphones) to do my game audio with.

Well, anything you want to show around, really. Cool stuff that makes your music sound nice? And Rooster, interference from my laptop's headphone port was a major reason I bought an external amp, but it also does a much, much better job of driving high impedance headphones than the laptop. It doesn't change the music, but it opens it up and lets you hear things you didn't know were there before

Oh, and for everybody who listens to music on their computer: use FLAC. For the children.

Read the article. The full setup (projector and all) is $6mil.

You may now hate him even more.

    Re: Hi-Fi audio

I had a home theatre thread that I tried to get off the ground a while back. It pretty much crashed and burned.

    This was the thread:

    This is my set up:
