    TTP Darwin Awards

Have an injury? Was it totally your fault? were there countless way of preventing it from happening but you said "fuck it"? Got a picture of it??

Im starting an official thread of our own darwin awards. Sticky this?

Today i noticed a loud noise coming from my case, it was a cable that somehow ended up against my case fan and the fan looked like it was about to chop this thing in half! So i reach in, try to move and tuck the cable away, then BAM! The fan splits my middle finger nail on my left hand in half right down the middle!! (gonna be hard to use movement keys with a huge wrap on my finger) Went in between my nail and flesh......the fan was on max settings, 3700rpms...straight to the tip.....totally not cool. Funny as hell, but not cool.

Edit: the red line is the tear it did.

Related to yours, when I was trying to figure out what was wrong a few months ago (my power supply was failing), I decided to dig around without turning off the computer. Hit my finger against the CPU fan, and took a hung chunk out of it. Hurt like hell, too.

Yea, everyone (including me!) has done the "I'll-just-reach-in-and-SONOFABITCH" with a case fan. Did you also know it is impossible to build a computer or seat a heatsink without mysteriously cutting one of your knuckles and bleeding all over everything before you realize you're cut? It's true, it's a part of the ATX spec.

I was at work scraping some tiles of extra mastic before grouting, and i was using a large flathead screwdriver. The guy I was working with warned me that I was gonna hurt myself doing it, and I swear not 2 seconds later, the damned thing slipped and made a huge gash on my thumb. I still have the scar.

I mounted a scope on my new 25 .06 rifle a few months ago. Yet, for some reason it looked like it was mounted too far back, but i ignored it. So i went outside to go site the damn thing in. First shot, BAM, scope hits me right in the forehead. Felt like i had just been kicked in the head by a mule. It bled like crazy for about 10 minutes and it still hurts to this day if i push on the scar that it left. Needless to say, the next scope i mounted on a gun was in the proper damn place lol.

    Re: TTP Darwin Awards

I have a repeating dumbass move that is so far instilled into my instinctive and genetic makeup, that I actually just go with it now. I can't resist the urge to catch any falling object, be it sharp, hot, toxic...whatever. I bartend in a very busy environment and spend a lot of my time at home in the kitchen, so I'm very often dropping things and catching them. If the rest of my body had the relexes and hand/eye coordination for catching falling objects...I would be the greatest athlete who ever lived. It's been at least a year since I've given myself a substantial injury, but as I look down at the scars on my hands and my deformed finger (tendon damage)...it brings back many memories. Catching the chef knife with my fingers after just sharpening, but saving my foot in the process. Catching the pieces of the broken hurricane glass that just fell 5 ft off the glass rack and then broke on my granite bartop. I make so many "saves" a day that I've just learned to go with it. Sometimes, daily, I make the save and then smash my hand into another object, mostly minor stuff. I can almost understand why the Labrador Retriever only cares about the fetching the ball, he has no choice. When most people see a glass or anything for that matter falling, they usually back away...I dive for it. It's a stupid thing to do, but I can't help myself. I guess I'm just a little further down the evolutionary chain. An occasional substantial injury is the price I must pay for being the "king of the saves".

Worst one...I was on my knees on a concrete floor and just handed a bottle up to someone standing next to me. As I was getting up, they dropped the bottle. I was twisting up to the left as the bottle was falling to my right. I was still relatively close to the ground and made a sudden move to catch it. I was off by a hair, and the bottle had already made contact with the floor as my hand smashed full force into many pieces of sharp shrapnel. I had blood literally pumping out of my right hand with 2 people helping me with pressure points on my arm. That was ten years ago, and I see the scars everyday as well as one finger that seems to look a little bit more deformed each year due to that event. If the same thing happened tomorrow, I'd probably react the same way. Why, because I'm no better than a dog.

Well, one I night I had a bottle of Jack. My kryptonite I guess. I was hanging out with my buddy's up at college, playing some xbox, making some stout mixed drinks, having a good time. Well I had about a quarter bottle left, I felt pretty damn good, and one of my buddy's told me, "Hey, I bet you can't chug the rest of that." Feeling my manhood was being questioned, I replied, "I bet you I fucking can." Kick the bottle back, and the lip hits me square on my left front tooth, breaking a sizable chunk out of it. Me, feeling this, decide to do the only thing rational and drink till the pain stopped. Long story short, I chugged a quarter bottle of jack, and half of my front tooth.
