Thread: Murphy's law kicks in unexpectedly

So I've been sick this weekend and just now, no more than 10 minutes ago, I was trying to blow my nose clear. This is usually a simple task, but this time that snot was pretty stubborn. So what actually happened instead was I blew my eardrum out... Good times. :10

My vision didn't stop spinning for a good 20 seconds. Thank God I was sitting down. If blowing my nose had caused me to lose equilibrium and crack my head against the corner of a coffee table I'd have won a Darwin Award for sure.

So now my ear kind of hurts, my nose is still stuffed up, and to make matters worse, I'm kind of afraid to try again.

Generally, if you blow your nose so hard that you bust an eardrum, you're blowing too hard. That sucks though - I strongly recommend not doing that again!

I didn't blow hard at all. I guess it was just one of those things, but I'll definitely try to heed your advice.

Take a shower, and let the water vapors break down the snot. Then, blow the nose.
