I know what'cha mean, Spaz! Classic rock stations here started playing the songs of my childhood lately. Aww shit.

Jabberwock, that's pretty sick. I've been wanting to play the banjo. I have a sneaky suspicion that pairing the banjo with steel drums (another instrument I want to learn to play) might sound pretty sick.

    Re: Are You A Musician?

    I'll go I guess.....

Played the piano when I was younger for about 5 years or so....picked up the Trombone in middle school.....did well through out school and was offered full rides to the likes of Berklee and Oberlin..ended up going to Texas Tech and switched from Music to Business to become the corporate whore I am today. Along the way I havr toured across the united states in various orchestras, chamber groups, big bands, combo bands, and a handful of ska and afro/cuban type bands. Yes you can make ok bucks...but its HELL amount of work and there is not insurance. Plus it quickly turns into work...rather than an outlet My influences are from all over the map from classical, opera, jazz....to metal. Right out of school I was still able to gig a lot, but since moving to Houston 4 years ago and the Musician Unions they way there are in this town its too much damn work. I will still play at some open mic shit, or have some buddies over for a beer or 2, but haven't touched my horn in over 4 months...the longest stretch since about 92 or 91...OUCH.

    Re: Are You A Musician?

I've been playing accoustic guitar for longer than I like to think. When I was much younger, I used to play one man band gigs in any restaurant that would supply me a good bottle of wine and irish coffees to keep my voice in tune. But things change and, even though I don't play much these days, I play gospel music exclusively now and write quite a lot of original songs.

Inside was a perfect condition Yamaha acoustic, nothing elaborate, but an acoustic guitar in pristine condition, nonetheless. That thing stuck around my house forever, and finally, probably 8 years later, I finally picked it up and started playing. I still have that original guitar and have yet to buy a new one. Suits me fine. I've been playing for almost 3 years now.

I like to pick old country songs from my days as a child as well as play a little reggae/surf rock. You know, the upstrokes on the strings all the time as opposed to the down strokes! I'm still not that great, but I can play. And I can sing. I've thought about uploading one of my songs, but the recordings are all hella shitty.

Xplodr! (my bro) plays drums, been playin' em since he was in the 5th grade or so.

Canadian, having been in the punk phase, I'm surprised you didn't list Travis Barker as one of your fave drummers. Now I know some of you tard-o's are going to say Blink-182 isn't punk, but the old Blink....that was for sure as hell punk. I don't know how you could deny it. And that foo' rocks on the drumzees.
old blink was a different drummer...scott raynor travis came in for enema of the state....and i really disslike him. he's really overrated/overhyped. but yeah, i used to like blink back in the day.
